Ya my thought was they have a 2nd Xbox ONE SKU without Kinect, without a BluRay, WIth a 1Tb hdd the idea being it's for people who just want to download / stream and don't touch physical media anymore.  Sell it for less than PS4 and I'd imagine sales would shoot up fast.

As for the question of caps, many ISPs sell their bandwidth packages with caps today.  You need to shop around and READ THE FINE PRINT.  I know when I used to have ATT DSL in california, I had a 150GB cap.  I'm in a different state now on Charter cable and they have 100/250/500 GB caps per month depending on what service you subscribe to.  Bandwidth caps are the biggest thing hindering people going all online for stuff, although it hasn't stopped me personally, it can be a hinderence for people who don't know what their bandwidth needs are and they get the cheapest bandwidth plan available.

my bandwidth usage is one reson i could never go 100% cellular wireless.. most those plans are 5Gb /month caps, fuuuuck that... that's like 1 day for me lol

Here's my past few months (and I download a ton - many movies, shows, games, etc):

I don't know WTF I did in Feb.  I don't know how that can be right.  LOL

Cox has soft caps that vary depending on plan purchased -- they encourage you to upgrade your plan if you exceed your cap.  I am in one of the upper tiers and have a cap of 300 gb a month, I believe.  I don't do a lot of TV or music streaming so I have never come near the cap, but I could see where others who regularly use streaming services like Hulu and Netflix might have issues with it.  Going from 6-7gb 360 games to 30+gb XBOX One games could make then sit up and take notice, but for most others it shouldn't be a problem.

-- and celluar data usage charges are ridiculous.

Caps are coming  They are essentially just a cost increase with no ceilng in price.  I'm thinking we will see a pricing structure that includes a cap, then per GB charge up to a max price per month.  Say $60 for internet, 5GB cap, $1 Per GB after 5GB and capped at $150.00.  That is how my cable company could easily get me back to paying them what I did before kicking the cable TV to the curb.  My usage this year in GB.

Jan  126 Feb 113 Mar 43 Apr 64 May 34.  When I was watching a lot of shows and movies on the Roku I occasionally hit 100GB in a day.  My cable provider has already been inching up my internet only pricing.

As more and more fiber needs lit up we will definitely see the cost of data usage go up.

we pay $149 a month for cable tv / internet after taxes, now.  I think internet itself is like $60 a month.  Even if it jumped to $100 a month if cable tv went away and it was all IP download TV - I'd still save money.  I'm actually looking forward to the day when everything is just one price for data, like phones went to with their unlimited text/talk - we actually saved a bit of money that way.

Netflix negotiated a non-neutrality agreement.  Meaning, Comcast and others aren't following neutrality in their load-bearing.  Basically providors have no obligation to help out with bottlenecks for Netflix and other companies, and they have no reason to want to since they are drinking their milkshake so to speak.  So, now Netflix and other streaming providers like Amazon are paying extra to that when there is a bottleneck, Comcast will help out.

Netflix is using their highways and clogging them all up, and Comcast wasn't creating any off ramps.  Now, they are.  For a price.

And not so coincidentally both Amazon and Netflix increased their service fees O_o .

to be fair, Netflix isn't raising prices on current users for 2 years - and even then it's a dollar.

Amazon does much more than just video streaming - their shipping costs for Prime must be astronomical.  It's almost like insurance - they are betting you won't use enough shipping to go over the cost of the service to you.  But I buy most things from there, so I get the better deal.

From where I sit I see bandwidth increases from netflix, paying more to Comcast (whoever) to ease the bottlenecks, AND Comcast turing around and imposing a cap on the end user ( ultimately they'll capitulate IF you pay more) and then Netflix upping their charge as well. I see the end user getting increased cost/restriction from both directions. May not be accurate but it is the perceived situation from the general public.

This is the Xbox One I'll be getting whenever I do get an Xbox One. Personally I can't stand kinect and never saw any appeal in it. I'm happy they finally released a kinect-less version.

Did you buy and sell the Kinect 1.0?  Sounds like you've had some hands on to "not stand it".

Though 2.0 is a ton better with voice commands.
