GT Planet - 24 Heures du Mans
GT Planet - 24 Heures du Mans
Hello fellow GT6-ers
GT Planet is going to host and actual 24 hour race at Le Mans and I'm on a team with a confirmed starting position in the grid. we are limited to three drivers on the team and we have an open slot if anyone is seriously interested in participating. The way they are doing this is pretty cool. In short, its ran as an open lobby with 15 teams on the grid at the start of the race. when you are finished with your stint, you pull into the pits (take a picture of how many laps you did) and then exit the lobby. Your team mate then enters the lobby and then starts his stint. The only thing that you have to have is you are all doing the same car and build (can have different tune though)
Entry is open to 3 classes
- LM P1 - for modern and historic top class prototypes.
- LM GT+ - for Super GT, GT1, GT2, and extreme track cars.
- LM GT - for GT3 and GT4 cars,

Basically, we are looking for a third driver to help split up the 24 hour race. We have not decided on a car but if your interested, please let me know. The chance to run an actual 24 hour race is going to be interesting
Thats pretty hardcore isn't it? 8hrs of racing for each of the 3 man team? How does your team communicate with each other throughout the race? Sounds interesting but too much for this guy, good luck tho. I imagine there will be some kind of broadcast or something?
It is hard core but its a challange that I cant turn away.
Looks like we will be driving the 2006 Corvette Z06 (C6) LM Race Car in the LM GT+ division. We havnt worked out the pitting driver swap details just yet but we have a few ideas, IM, Text, forum post, etc We will work it out before the race. More than likely, we will between 2 and 3 hour stints depending on the times.
I was thinking this would have been perfect for snappy as he could have raced during the late evening, early morning hours. Shame he dosent have GT6 anymore ;(
I have a couple other messages out and will be a first come first serve for the third spot so if your interested, please let me know.
I probably would have liked this. It's a shame that NOONE is developing a feature into their SIM/Game that allows for driver swaps. It's rumored that iRacing has been working on it for some time.
How great would that be? Run your stint and then pull in the pits, exit the car and your teammate would take over and run their stint. GThat would be game changing.
PS - I really miss racing with you guys. I'm starting to worry that the kind of racing we used to have pretty regularly is a distant memory. Hope we can get back to it soon. Maybe we should have a reunion event...?
Aside from not knowing wehre you stand in the race, its not a bad way of doing it. As for me, I have changed teams and will be the fourth driver driving the McLaren F1 GTR Race Car and will be doing two 3 hour stints on Saturday.

Race Day!!!!!
I will be doing two 3 hour stints with the first one scheduled from 1:00pm-4:00pm EST and then again from 10:00pm - 1:00am EST. The race is being prodcasted on twitch.tv

Looks like we are currently third in class at the moment but we are just under 2 hours into the race
Looks like there might be some issues with the graphics. If during the above times, you dont see my name, look for cmbeal317. Its also a bit laggy on the feed but its not bad in the actual race
Had a decent first stint. Had a couple minor spins and no damage. Was shortend to 2 hours (was going to be three) due to a red flag to reset the quality of the room and we decided to do the driver swap during the red flag to save time not doing it under green flag conditions.
Will be heading back to the track in just over 2 hours for my final 3 hour stint (in the dark to perhaps sunrise)
Caught a bit of that yesterday on twitch after the reset. Looked to be pretty solid when I was watching the feed.
The reset really helped the quality and was great.
My final stint went off without a hitch (again, a couple minor offs) but nothing series and kept the fenders clean for the 3 hours. Mangaed my best time during the middle portion of the stint in the dark. The hard part was the early morning sunrise which made going through some of the chicanes tougher due to the glare. I think we may have finished 2nd in class but the totals are still be ing worked out.
I have to say though, this is as close as it gets to being able to run a real 24 hour race and have to rely on teammates and manage your stints. I would do it again in a heartbeat. So much fun.
Snappy, this event was made for you. Shame you couldnt participate in it
Snappy Who??
Just read your summary, Grim. Sounds like you had a blast. I can't wait for you to get into PC and try iRacing. By the end of the year they will be going live with real time driver swaps. I can't wait! I really hope you and some of the other guys here try it soon.
@WHEELS - I'm still around. ;-)
Im atleast a year out before I can make the jump to iRacing. Saving for our vacation in a few months and then looking to replace my truck
