Dragons of Destruction...any tips?

So I broke down and bought the Game of the Year edition of B2, and am working through the side quest of the Dragons of Destruction raid boss.  Any tips for a solo player whose character is only in the high 30's?  It's getting really tiresome trying to find a decent shield that doesn't evaporate with one hit all the time, plus there's no cover of any kind to use.
