XBox One will have preloading for Destiny!

http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/08/27/destiny-will-be-eligible-for-pre-...

This made my day since it will enable me to play the game right at midnight when it's released.  See you all 9/9 =)

EDIT: Further research shows that preloading will make the game available at midnight PST/3 AM PST.  I'm EST so this is a definite downer but at this point in my life having a digital copy of a game I'll never trade in is worth a few hours at the beginning.  Easy to say now but it will get tougher as the release date approaches :)

I saw that. I wonder when it will be made available? MS turned it on by accident earlier today then turned it off again.

I'm speculating next Tuesday.

PS4 has had a couple games you could preload, and usually it's only 2-3 days before release. Probably will be similar here.

I saw it last night on the dashboard but it said unavailable.  The links still say unavailable but they're working on it but if they can fix this I'll cancel my Gamestop digital pre-order in favor of being able to download the game in advance.  I'd imagine launch day download times will be agonizing.

I'm waiting until after next Tuesday just in case MS comes out with a last minute Destiny+XB1 bundle (not LE or anything like that). Just an XB1 with standard Digital Destiny for $399.99. If they don't, I'll buy the Digital Std Edition on Wed.

I like to buy the DLC add-ons ahead and save some money but all to often I do that and about a third of my friends never buy this stuff and then it becomes a hassle to get to play it.

Bought the Digital Guardian Edition and started the download.

I hope all future One games will be this easy.

No going to the store. No long wait while while transfering to the HDD, when you just want to play. $10 savings.

Win, win, win!

Don't get me wrong, I am probably pre-ordering but definetly downloading. The Destiny servers won't go online until 12 PDT so there isn't a time saving for me to pre-order digital or stand in line. 4am start is a big barrier. Just would be nice for everything to be all set for first thing in the morning. smiley

Per bungie update:

"When it is September 9th somewhere in the world, and you have access to your very own version of Destiny, it will be time for you to create a character that will keep you company for a good, long time. Retailers will stick to time-zones. Our servers won’t know the difference. Retailers will break street date. Our servers won’t."  So if you preload the digital version it will unlock at 12:01 what ever time zone you live in.

You sure about this for non pst timezones?  MS says their copy unlocks at 12 pst...

I think that's for retail copies. We still need the key from MS to play the digital version. That has nothing to do with Bungie servers.

For example, even though I bought and installed Destiny yesterday and it's in my games section, it's also still in the download queue

...OR..., if they use the International Dateline... and Midnight crosses the Pacific Ocean... and it's Sept. 9th in, um, lets say Sydney, Australia. ...That would be approx. 9 or 10AM (Eastern US) on Monday Sept. 8th. - 3PM-UK? - Wouldn't it be nice if they let digital preloads in early, and the pre-order retailers could let pre-order buyers pick up the game and get in early too.

That may be TOO hopeful...?

Gamestop order canceled, downloading Destiny base game now.  I'm out of the pre-order Expansion pass business.  Glad Microsoft was able to get the Digital download, now I can just log in and play at 12:01 and then curse all night long because the servers won't be able to handle the load.

As of now I'm planning on it being available at 3:01 AM EST unless I hear something different from Bungie.  The download site from M$ says this so I'll roll with that until I hear something different.  Of course, 12:01 AM EST would be absolutely insanely awesome =)

Cancelled my preorder from EB and just finished installing this. Now if only I could be frozen for the next week, then everything would be perfect.

Put in my XB1 Destiny Std Pre-order today. All downloaded and waiting for me to come home from getting the groceries on Tues. morning.smiley

I figured there's no chance between now and Sep.8 for a XB1/Destiny download bundle.

It would of taken away from Sony's "PS is the place to play Destiny" if X1 got a bundle as well.

No, it's called annoy the shit out of my wife while grocery shopping. Annoyances include bombastic talking, turning up nose at certain food, whining for the lack of treats, saying sale produce is fester food and etc. It's fun time with DEEP.

Dammit to HELL!

Target and Walmart Canada both had a sale this week. $399 plus a Disk game. Walmart specifically stated Destiny. Target was any in stock game.sad

I almost got in a fight at Gamestop over their digital pre-order policy. I thought the addition of the SE Sparrow would be cool so I trek down to the mall on payday, all excited. I paid for the game and he hands me a receipt and tells me thanks for shopping. I looked at the receipt and asked how this works and he informed me that I needed to come back at midnight on the 8th to get my digital codes. I tried to politely explain the concept of digital but he was firm in his resolve. "But we're having a party. There will be food". Are you freaking nuts? I ended up getting a refund and just buying it on Xbox. Lesson learned that day. Now my pre-ordered, pre-downloaded Destiny taunts me. It's kind of like how beer calls you from the fridge, only sexier.

I finally caught a sale on something XB1. I wanted a second XB1 for convenience and so my wife might join in. The free game I picked was Kinect Sports Rivals for the Kinect XB1 I already have.

Its not just that Destiny is going to have a crapload of sales, its going to sell a crapload of consoles.  Amazing stuff.

When you factor in the amount of time lost at work because people call in "sick" its an amazing economic impact for a single piece of entertainment.
