Additional tip: starting the Devil's Lair Strike mission at midnight on a weeknight is probably not a good idea unless retired or currently unemployed.

One of his tips is to avoid running with team members in the PVE modes who are ranked signficantly higher than you. They will do more because of their advantage in weapon and armor strength. Makes you look awesome though... : )

I would recommend keeping at least one open slot in your inventory for each weapon and armor piece. You frequently run over weapon/armor collectables while in battle, and if there's no open slot in your inventory, you can't pick it up. It gets real inconvenient while in battle to open your inventory and free up a slot. There is no pause.

The 3-shot Dirty Harry hand cannons are powerful and seem easy to use for head shots - I use one on Venus along with a shotgun. Pulse rifles and fusion rifles work well on Earth, but not elsewhere. The DMR-like Scout Rifles are fun to shoot, but don't do well in battle.

During the Beta, Crucible players all used machine guns of one sort or another. This time it seems more use their super or rockets. Why isn't there a "customs" game mode? I'd like to get familiar with the maps, weapons and strategies before being tossed into the meat grinder....

I believe the Postmaster will have any loot you may miss while playing - especially if it's an engram or an uncommon (or higher) item. I've not tested this, but others here may have some knowledge of if this works.

Don't get hung up on saving glimmer. You'll very soon find loot way better than anything the vendors sell, and even at level 21 to upgrade weapons you only need 95 glimmer.

Break down everything you're not using, don't bother saving it. Your other character will more than likely find equal or better gear when they get to that level, and at higher levels you need A LOT of the class specific components from breaking down armor to upgrade rare gear.

Don't get too hung up exploring every inch of the map. Most of the caves are empty, the ones that aren't have a chest with 30 glimmer and a spinmetal in them. Your loot is mostly going to come from the reward screen.

Use armor that compliments your play style; if you use scout rifles, equip an armor that lets you reload scout rifles faster. I suggest having a couple different weapons and armors handy depending on the situation, too. If you're playing Crucible, keep your favorite snipe and your favorite shotty handy for use on different maps. Sniping is easy on places like the Moon, but if you're playing Control or a smaller map, your shotgun is optimal. Any loot you get after that just breakdown or replace your better stuff with.

If you aren't using hand cannons for missions, you are missing out.  Especially with armor with reload speed.  Also the Sahara AR rocks for missions -  kicks too hard for pvp though.

Also, if you take ambien to sleep, take it and run a mission if you must keep playing.  DO NOT take it and play 5 crucible games. It turns out it's not good for your pvp skills.  ;)

Played 3 matchmaking 3-man Raid missions last evening that included myself and 2 randoms. Was surprised that they were good players who actually wanted to play and use strategy cooperatively - though they didn't use a mic.  I was matched with people who were 1-3 ranks higher than myself. Rank makes a big difference in how effective you are in killing stuff. I got 56 assists in one of those games, and the highest ranking guy killed about 60 more than I.

Btw.. The MM raid missions were on the 360, and there was no lag or other network problems. Flawless with 4G wireless.

If someone on my friends list sees me online and there's an open slot, just join... It's OK...
