This weeks Weekly Heroic Strike
I was so close to making it through last night solo but I got cocky and tried to get two rockets off at the Nexus before turning to take out the vex that spawns behind you in then upper cave. Damn Nexus got me...
Couldn't believe the difference in shots it takes to take down that spawning Vex in the upper cave when you add a player. I brought in my son to guard my back and where it took 3 shots with the Icebreaker to take him down I'd empty the mag to take him down. That's not including the shoots my son put into him.
I did the lvl 28 version. Went down to the hidey-hole and did a peek, shoot, wait loop. It might work for Nightfall.
Helps to have lock-on rockets. Less time aiming and more frequent hits.
The hidey hole (up high on the left as you enter the chamber) I used in the solo lvl 28 weekly works the same for solo NF, just that the boss shoots more (controller is shaking nearly the whole time). He pauses every so often, which gives just enough time to send a void rocket his way, then I duck back in. I crouched to avoid most of the ads who try to shoot you from below. Took 10 or more rockets. No time - too risky to use the Ice Breaker.
It's supposedly easier with 3, 2 take out the minotaur and 1 to hit the Nexus. Still have to do it yet, probably won't get to it until tomorrow night.
Yeah, I had to creep through on the Nightfall last night, but eventually made it work. I even had the Nexus down to about half health and things under control and got kicked to orbit - I was not happy.
Those minotaurs have void sheilds, you might have better luck taking down that spawning baddie with a void weapon. I was using a rare void sniper and it was much more effecive against the void shields than Ice Breaker. This is for the Nightfall though with the void damage modifier.
I did the nightfall once and the heroic twice last night. You got to hide behind the big slab, works best with three people two shooters and one revivier. Almost had the nightfall a second time but we got careless. Oh well...
If anyone needs help invite if I am on.
We did it upstairs. Even with void burn, that minatour takes a full clip of a fully upgraded Atheon's Epilogue (void damage) before it will die. One direct his from his torch hammer will kill you. Its better to have one DPS on Nexus, one DPS on Minatour, and one floater in between. A solo guy on the Minatour will work most of the time, but one luckly direct hit and he can wipe your whole team.
Yeah, that's a pretty good recipe for success. Make sure that person that's watching the minotaur spawn doesn't get silent for a few seconds so the minotaur doesn't teleport up your ass, though. That can happen in a second if you're not talking it up.
We did it also upstairs, we counted about 12 sec in our heads, and turn around and there he was again, we take 2 sniper shots each at it, and would go right back at the nexus, worked out pretty good. Hint for the minatour, take the first shot in his eye, he totally goes crazy and waves his little arms in the air, giving you ample time to shoot him down in the belly afterwards.
Hidey-hole down below and behind the huge slab.
The hidey hole I use is high and to the left as you enter (land in) the chamber. You're completely safe, and can shoot often in <28 lvl strikes. In 28 strikes and NF, you're still fairly safe, but can't shoot as often cuz the big guy focuses on you. My Titan can't make the jump to the hide (maybe I'm not doing it right), but my Warlock can make it nearly every attempt. I jump in before killing any of the Minotaurs. I kill them from the hide.
Tip... go up a level or two in screen brightness before trying it. The hide is hard to see because it's so dark.
I don't know where the hide spots are located so I just stayed up top in the tunnel before you drop down. The biggest challenge is keeping an eye out for the Minotaur that spawns up there, but it's not too bad.
I don't know why people take on weekly's alone. It's no fun, it's super slow, and the possibility you won't complete it is much higher.
Get some 2o2p people together. That's what this site it for.
I like the challenge in trying to solo the Nightfall. I'll usually play them multiple times during the week with others, but I like trying to get through it solo the first time.
I know my limits though - I have called in back-up before...lol
Yeah, I love doing the stuff with fireteams, but the solo challenge is fun too. I had the pocket infinity "Kill 200 enemies in Nightfall" leg of the quest and didnt want to subject my teammates to that grind. After getting a little way in I figured I would just try to solo it. I did, and it was fun.
Why do ppl do Halo slaso? The challenge - of course. I really enjoy doing these with 2o2p ppl too, and usually do a couple of the same NFs each week.
Boo, my nightfall run ended when I forgot my double jump and slammed into the concrete. lol
Typical.
Haven't done Nightfall yet solo, but every morning I run the Heroic story at Level 28 with no problem. It's done for the goodies, but I get a great deal of satisfaction from doing each one with no deaths.
I would be glad to help with the Nightfall.
I'd also like to try and get the weekly done on my Titan so I can get some coins. Problem is my Titan is Level 26, but I can transfer my void weapons from my Warlock and hopefully be able to put down some supressing fire...lol He's not quite ready for the Nightfall, but I'd like to get some coins for Xur in hopes he'll have some sweet Titan loot.
Use void weapons for the Nightfall. Will make it go smoother with the void burn.
I would also like to get this done on lvl 28, I need coins as Patience and Time is for sale this weekend
me too I have 6 coins but want the armaterium and P & T need to break out all 3 characters.
If I didn't already have The Supremacy sniper (with Arc) I would have been more interested in P&T. I would say if you do not already have a nice Arc sniper, and have the coins, I would give it some consideration.
You'll want Arc weapons next time we get a Nightfall/Weekly Heroic with Arc Burn.
I dont have either but I am thinking ice breaker for pve and P&T for pvp. Also depending on where you lie with the elemental damage with your weapons. I cant see the invisibility perk as big a deal in pve unless running solo.
P&T is arc so a perfect complement to those two in PVE. I can't see it making any difference in PVP. Being invis from the side/back is a pretty small advantage.
