[FM4] 1998 GT1 Endurance Series (Finished)
[FM4] 1998 GT1 Endurance Series (Finished)
I will be hosting a four race endurance series featuring GT1 cars from 1998. Races are run on Sundays at 20:00 GMT, 15:00 EST, 14:00 CST, 13:00 MST, 12:00 PST.
Here's an excellent Jalopnik article about this era.
When Supercars Raced At Le Mans
Race Format
There will be one race on race day not counting warm-up races.
Each race will cover about 200 kilometers (124 miles) and should take around 70 minutes.
There will be two mandatory pit stops. Pit window opens after the first lap and closes before the last lap. There must be one lap between pit stops. In other words, you can't pit on consecutive laps. This is on the honor system. I'm not going to check everyone.
Cautions can be called in the first two laps except at Le Mans where cautions are allowed on the first lap.
Cars and Builds
1997 #43 Team BMW McLaren F1 GTR
1998 #41 Gulf Team Davidoff McLaren F1 GTR
1998 #32 NISSAN R390 GT1
1998 #26 Porsche AG 911 GT1-98
Stock, no upgrades. Tuning is allowed.
There is a 10% power handicap for the Nissan and Porsche in the lobby.
Teams
Teams are limited to four drivers per team. A four driver team can split into two teams for the series if they wish, for example, Pacifica 1 and Pacifica 2. The driver pairings should remain constant throught the series.
One car teams are allowed.
See the Points section for more about teams.
It is not required but would be nice if team cars ran the same liveries.
Handicap Information
No success handicaps.
Points
1st = 30

Intresting but my 360 will be retiered afther the Lotus serie's.
This sounds like a lot of fun :) count me in
I would be interested in this.
Yes. I am in.
I've got back surgery Monday, so Xbox time is the plan. If I can swing the time slot, it sounds like fun.
Hey Thane, this sounds interesting. Just fixed my MS wheel (and hopefully the fix will last), so maybe I won't suck as bad once I learn how to stop compensating for a wheel that's been messed up for months. Cars were fun to drive today.
I'm thinking of cutting the races to 200 km. It should shave about 20 minutes. Maybe attract more drivers.
Pacifica will indeed be campaigning in this with of course matching liveries....Aside from fact i bought wrong mclaren like a numpty lol. easily fixed. I believe there was an idea of locking the final drive ratio on porsche and nissan to avoid them running away down the straights? I feel that this may be better than a power handicap as all cars seem equal on acceleration just the mclaren runs put of top end comparative to other 2. I can do some testing to come up with a value for that if needed?
I did some of this testing. Feel free to do some as well. I will post the settings or gift you setups of what I tested.
Maybe we should add an additional weekend at the front of the schedule for testing.
I'm up for this, might miss some xmas weekends though as the box won't be travelling with me.
Try these gearboxes. They might need a little tweaking. I used the ForzaTune gearing app which works well in my opinion.

I like the looks of this one!
Count me in as well...
That R390 is calling my name
I'm planning on driving the R390, too. I'm guessing JDan and Juan will drive the Porsche. There were a lot of McLarens at the one practice race last Sunday. I want to have all makes represented.
Ive been practicing with the R390 too, with the gearbox adjusted per Thane's post. Boy these suckers are fast...
since I'm always about 5secs a lap behind the pack, it's about the same dif for me.
Suzuka @ 2:04, (tough track for me). Silverstone @ 1:54. Road Am @ 2:06. LeMans @. 4:04. (Not driving smooth there lately?)
(And still pumped full of stuff from back surgery... Feelin' no pain, no reflexes... Best stay clear!) surgery was a sucess, btw. He ground off some bone spurs inside the vertebrae that was rubbing on raw exposed nerve... A whole nuther world of pain...
Ive always liked McLarens, since I met Bruce, so will putter with that too. But I seem to handle Nissans better. (Now, if I could just paint!)
Enjoy all... it is a game
Porsche driver here.
This will start after the Lotus series finishes. There are three weekends left in that series. We are at Road Atlanta this week .
Those of us in the States (and any Euro guys that are up in the wee hours) could get together for some test races. Nights at around 9 pm Central or later are the best for me.
I'm leaning toward the power handicap. I've tinkered with gearboxes but I'm not satisfied. If anyone else would like to take a crack at it, feel free.
I'm adding the 1997 #43 Team BMW McLaren F1GTR. It's identical to the other one.
I know long races in R2 are not everyone's favorite but it's a short series. I like racing race cars once in a while.
Anyone interested in teaming with me as "Big Gas Race Team"? I prefer to drive the Nissan or Porsche.
You guys remember I dropped out of the last race. We'll I've been having alot of connection issues and my son's XBOX ONE seems to be the culprit which somehow gives me a poorer connection on my 360. I can't see doing an endurance race under these conditions. Hopefully Santa is delivering a new Router for XMas and it will solve this issue. Too bad cause I rarely drive those R2 cars. Enjoy.
Too bad seeker, will miss my DBBQ teammate. Maybe give it another go in the shakedown this weekend?
See you around in WoT maybe!
My connection is so bad i can't even get through a couple of WoT games.
Hey Seeker. DId you try port forwarding settings on your router? Try this as a quick and dirty tutorial. Basic and the settings are right 99 times out of 100.This shit usually fixes lag issues and multiple xbox connections NAT issues.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zQamwWjMUd0
Thanks DBrown. Yes I have been through all that and my router will not allow multiple devices to have open NAT at the same time no matter how I tried to configure it.
Best times so far during testing. (No power handicap)
Suzuka 1:56.6
Silverstone 1:45.2
Road America 1:58.7
Le Mans 3:48.8
I'm in! Any Nissan or McLaren team in need of a driver? 5 laps on stock cars got me a best of 1:58.2 @ Suzuka.
Sorry about the confusion caused by my lobby setup. I've fixed my game options so should be smooth sailing next time.
Next week is an open week because of the FM5 race. We can practice these again or perhaps DufferMac will be on and we can try the TransAm cars or whatever anyone else is cooking up.
Maybe a one off exhibition type race, most of the drivers we have now have taken part in a few series, theres the GT2 Cars, the Super Mini's, Seat Super Cup, Clio Cup, Lots to run a good publicity night to get some footage and photos :)
Just my 2 pence as i wont be there lol
Is it ok if i invite a friend on Sunday for the session?
He prefer nice and clean racing and shows the skill to become a really fast driver.
The drawback is his age, he doesnt meet the age limit we have, but he is nice and polite. and i will take responisibility for his actions.
