So we've been Normal raiding for a while now as 29's. We've tried the hard a few times, but it just seems impossible without a 30. Anyone have any strategies for hard raiding as 29's? We can't get the raid gear to level up to 30.
Well, as you've already discovered, without some 30s in your group, the Hard raid is most challenging. Seeing how the enemies are level 30, that means at level 29 you are not able to inflict 100% damage.
I'm not saying it's not possible, but until you can get at least half your group to level 30, you might want to grind the normal raid until you can get a full set of level 30 gear. Yes, I know the raid helm doesn't drop in normal, so you'd need to equip an exotic helm.
We ran through our first hard raid Tuesaday night, from beginning to end (previously, we'd all have done parts and sections of it). Six 30s make it all go a lot smoother. Same with Sunbros.
I did the raid yesterday on HARD, we had 4 - 30 with us including my son, and 2 x 29 including me. All I was missing is the Helmet which i got last night.
Out of the group 2 of the 30 levels where excellent players, (what I mean from that is, if we took a look at the kill to death ratio on Halo it would be near 3.0 average to give you an idea) the other 30 level was good, and the other 30 was like me, average about 1. 125 in Halo for another example. The other 29 kept dying all the time, so don’t even count him. So with these players we got thru in about 2 ½ hours.
Basically when my son does this raid they go in with 4 players at his level on HARD, and make it thru in about 45 min. Yes, 4 players, shit we are 6 in our normal group and it takes us 1 ½ to go thru the normal level up to Atheon and then we chock there. All this to tell you that if you want to succeed on HARD your best chance is get at least 4 good 30 levels with you that have been thru this. Because they know when to hide and where when time comes,.. LOL
Im up for hard mode anytime you see me on, even if i am playing another game. Just send me a message. I have a 30 with all loot that you can get from the normal raid.
I am open for a hard raid anytime even if I have completed. I was a 29 forever so know how frustrating it is to get that last piece of gear.
I have played with doom strike but have others on my friends list who for whatever reason I haven't games with, I am tired of the kiddies at this point.
I've tried it a few times. It wasn't the killing that was difficult for me, it was the hobgoblins one shotting me. I may take you guys up on that. I have a Warlock and Titan both stuck on 29. My Titan just needs chest armor and I can not get it. I really want the guns as I've heard the DLC will have 30 light gear for sale.
For me, the hard raid is worst at Atheon, because the bugs that persist seem to bite the worst then. You can't bring your teammates back to combat those.

We had an issue during the hard raid where one of the transported would get put in a bubble. We ended up beating it with 3 30's and 3 29's, but none of the 29's got any armor or weapons. It's almost a joke anymore with the drops.
