Five good reasons?

Liking what I've seen so far regarding Destiny, but I thought I'd get some input from folks who've played for a while.

Can you give me five good reasons to buy this game?  Can you still enjoy it if you're not able to play with a group?

Thanks a lot!  laugh

I play most of my daily Bounties and Public events alone. Partly by choice and partly because I'm on Atlantic time.

Thoroughly enjoying it but I think the game is heading into to a content lull before the next DLC drops.

It's a lot of fun and worth the money IMO, although I highly recommend playing with a group because that's where most of the enjoyment is, at least for me. The game does matchmake you for strikes, and I've found a lot of people online to play with.

I agree with Deep though, for anyone who has been playing for a while, the game has started to get pretty stale on content. But if you're starting now you'll probably not get bored of the content until the next DLC drops.

I agree with this.  Starting out now and getting up to 3 characters leveled up alone or in a fireteam should keep you busy until the DLC drops.  Lots of guides and people out there that can help if you get stuck.

Like Deep, I run alone a lot in the morning to do bounties and such, but since I have maxed one character and can't advance my other two unless I raid Croata, these activities are definitely getting stale.

Personally, I like the game because it relaxes me. I like doing the bounties and try to do some every day. It's my go to FPS, because I can play by myself for an hour or so, shoot a bunch of stuff, and then just walk away. For most of the FPS games out there, if you want to play by yourself (not PvP, like deathmatch, etc) you have to replay the campaign and that gets old. With Destiny, you can load up any world you want, go do patrols and look for public events (my fav) and the whole time you're progressing your character. It doesn't feel like a complete waste of time. My FPS skills are limited, I"m just not that good. Most FPS games you have to be pretty good to get the enjoyment out of them, and that usually means being good at multiplayer, like deathmatch. And when it comes to multiplayer, I pretty much suck. Destiny gives me a way to play a FPS whitout worrying about anything. And the coop is incredible. I've already been carried through a few raids, courtsey of the fine folks here at 2o2p.

The other thing I really like about Destiny is you can do pretty much everything with friends or without friends. The raids are the only thing that you almost certainly need others in with you. Strikes are doable solo, but more fun with 2 other people. Patrols and story mode are fun solo and with friends. You just get a lot of choices on how you play this game. Very enjoyable. I've already gotten more mileage out of this game than any other shooter I've purchased since Borderlands. Very versitile game.

I love the game. I do play a decent amount by myself, but it get's boring. Playing with friends is where this game shines. Also be prepared to put a lot of time into the game. I'm 200+ hours and a friend of mine is 600+ hours. Sure it's repeative, but it's fun and that's what matters.

Been playing this since launch and my group has been doing mostly raids. Like others have said, this game is definitely a grind. Everything takes time. Let me put it this way. Ive been playing since launch, a lot. 3 Nightfall and Weekly Strikes a week. At least 1 or 2 normal Crota Raids, and 1 or 2 Hard raids in full. Plus a Vault of Glass raid on Hard if we have time (last week we did it 3 times trying to get a drop for someone). Now after all that, week in and week out, I just got the Gjallarhorn (arguably the best launcher in the game), 2 weeks ago, lol. The feeling when it finally dropped was amazing, but it took months.

So is the game worth it? Yes. But make sure you have a lot of time to invest if you want the best gear/weapons, and having at least a few friends you can deal with in high-stress situations (egos can derail a raid).

Arguably?  Feh.
