JUST got the achievement for 1000 credits for shared paints, was almost 11000 credits but hey. Next day, back to freelance. Between the "excellent" new system for the painters to not be able to get their stuff out there so it can be seen and my extremely late start in F5, it's a good thing I'm not dependent on paint credits or I'd starve.
I do have one paint with 60 or so downloads and similar uses though.
It may be a little while before I can afford to buy the BMW... I apparently lost my save file and the sync from the cloud didn't seem to act any different (even though our was 65.9MB). So, back to level 0 for me. Glad there's another Forza Reward coming in 9 days.

Send me a message in Live with a list of what you gather up and I'll try to put some paints together for you so you're not NEKKID out on the track, hehe. Year and model, I'm not the greatest at some of the nicknames on car models. I'll do you up a number plate and a livery package. Want Martini, or do you prefer a different color scheme? If so, gimmee two or three colors you like together and I'll toss something on a car, see what happens. (For instance Black/Red/Gold Something quick but with a consistency)
Yeah, unfortunately the cloud is woven into xb one. You have a local save that syncs with the cloud. That's supposed to "help" protect you. In my case, I never received any error message. All I know was it was good on Sunday, but Wednesday when I started up, I received the intro (starting over) stuff. I did some investigating and concluded "no problem" I'll just remove the local file and re-sync from the cloud and be up and running again. Well, not so much... At least it's easy to build up credits in the game and all DLC are free, so I'll get back soon. I sent a message to one of the T10 guys who has helped other folks in this boat with Credits and gift cars. It's just getting all my tunes and paints back to where I was that will take some time.
I'll get back to you on the paints once I start recovering cars this weekend. Thanks.
Are you backing all the way out of the game before shutting it off? All the way back to the Push "A" screen, and then tap the big white X button to get to the desktop, and then highlite the forza tile lower right corner and hit the "right hand start button", one with three horizontal lines, drop down pops up and scroll down to quit Forza or some such notation?
I never knew this was needed OR even possible until I saw it in a thread on Forza's forums. Seems not doing all this increases the chance for a memory issue to occur.
Most of the time, but not always. That may be what bit me in the butt this time. It takes one of these "events" to help you remember in the future to quit all the way out...
I doubt I'll get back to level 550 before FM6 comes out, but I'll certainly give it a try..

Update- I may not be as bad off as I thought... Once I got past the intro and was able to go to upgrades and painting, it appears that all of my tunes, paints, and vinyls are in that large 66MB save file. So, all I've lost are the 200 cars, 42M credits, and levels. It still shows all the achievements and badges completed. I must be the "best decorated" level 2 FM5 person of all time --LOL.
So, the stuff you could download again for free is there (paints/tunes) and the stuff you have to invest time in is gone (cars/credits/levels)?
I hope the guy on the T-10 forums can help you out. I hear he has been helpful in the past.
Okay, so I bought an Indy car last night and puttered with it, in the booth AND on the track and I'm really not impressed. It's a nightmare to paint anything on it at all, very glitchy. And the rides not the best.
Yes, except that I've been doing my own tunes for a while, so the ones I created are still there, as well as the simple paints I made. In your case, think of the time you invest in a paint. All in all, it's better than I had feared.
With 70 or so free DLC cars from LCE and car packs, I have access to all the classes quickly. In just a few hours of racing this weekend, I'm up to level 21 and accumulated 1.4M cr and 15 fully tuned/upgraded cars, so it's all good.
Since the levels and garage restarted at 0, from the in game store perspective it is the first time again (deja vu all over again, to quote Yogi Berra :-) ), so all the DLC have the "free" label again for the first time purchase.
