I keep getting hand cannons, although I don't think the stange coins are that bad a reward since I keep thinking that "this must be the week" that Xur is going to be selling the Ghorn.
To me the main benefit of running the nightfall is to get the blue flames/XP boost for the week, so the drops are just an added plus. Any time something better than shards/energies/blue engrams drops is a decent week in my book.
A couple of weeks ago I got a legendary shotgun (Unwilling Soul-09) which I dismantled before I even left orbit. Other than that there hasn't been much to crow about lately... I would have loved to get some of them there coins last week...
I could do without the coins. I usually have around 100 in inventory.
I don't mind the shards and energy. With three characters, I seem to always need some. Playing Iron Banner, I have two new pieces or armor and a new weapon needing to be upgraded.

I got 6 strange coins once. Seems kinda dumb to get a worse drop than what you could get in a weekly at the same level.
