Is quoting broken in forums?

Maybe it's just a learning curve thing but I wasn't able to figure out how to use the quote button when composing a post.  Used to be you clicked quote, pastd your text then clicked quote.  That doesn't seem to work.  I also highlighted the text and clicked the quote button and that also didn't produce the expected results.

Quote simply quotes the entire previous post of the user you want to quote it from.  Simply using the quote tags will put anything in quotes.

Ya the quote button to quote someone's response works great.  I'm having trouble with trying to quote a piece of text in my post.

This line i clicked the " button before i started typing and now i'm clicking it off

This line i typed in full first, highlighted and then clicked the " button

Quote:
This line i used the []quote and /quote tages before and after the text

Ok after this posted, it seems like you highlight the text you want to quote then click the quotes button.
