I wasn't able to use the new squadmate immediately after completing Eden Prime (yep, From Ashes sends you back to Eden Prime). It now allows me to use him after I completed the main story mission bringing back the Turian delegate (or whatever) from Palavan's moon. Not sure if there is a standard 1-mission wait to use him, or if you have to be past a certain point in the main story.
Didn't get to try out his powers though. He seems to have at least one that I haven't heard of before, might be cool. I did put that particle rifle on one of my squadmates though (I think it's a gun you get in the Eden Prime mission) and now in battles I see a nice big green laser firing from my squad. It's really handy as it easily lets me know where my squad is and what he is firing at :)

Not to get spolierific, but there's certain dialog the characters you take to the moon need to say. I imagine that's what you can't swap one of them out.
Yeah the whole DLC is great. Mission isn't very long, but the additional character is great. He gives you a 25% bonus to cooldowns, so that alone is worth it. Additional lore is a huge bonus.
I thought the DLC was pretty short. Yea, it's cool having the added character and story to go along with it. But, it wasn't worth $10. If I hadn't been so hype to play the game, I probably would've waitd til it went on sale.
I will just say this.... "They used to eat flies...."
When the person who said this said this I had to stop playing so i could finish laughing it was so awesome! I purchased the N7 edition but if I had not this DLC would hav been well worth the price they are charging for that line alone.
I had 400pts, so I figured wth...bought another 400 and got the DLC. After buying it, I can't believe this is DLC. The backstory is great and I feel should have been included in the original game. I kind of understand why people were upset now having played it. I don't feel bad about paying $10 though. I bought ME1 and 2 used. I figure all of the DLC I bought for me2 and this dlc at least give bioware some money that they never got from me for those previous games. I don't' really like the precedent this sets though.
I will look into it for that reason alone levi!
Lol yeah there werea could good lines. It has a lot of story behind the dlc.

they used to lick their eyeballs
If you don't have this, you are missing out on something that makes the game more interesting.
