Per the patch update notes: Increased the damage the MBT’s primary weapon does to the front and side armor of other main battle tanks. Primarily this means 1 less shot to the front, and very good hits to the side can result in a 1 hit to disable

I have been blown up in less than 1 second by a tank that wasnt even in my field of view and no lock on sounds.. justsayin that this was a huge update that directly affected my game play..

Yep, if the tanks (and repair tool) are now made of marshmallows, then it will directly affect my game play as well.  :(

I was waaaaay less than happy when I heard about what they were patching and all of the complaints from the PS3 players I heard about it when it came out for them.

Oh well,.... I guess I should learn to die with a more dramatic effect.........

let’s not forget that the repair tool now takes FOREVER to repair a tank.. so now that your tanks take more damage and the repair tool does less repair = FUKED!

oh an helicopters are becoming more and more a problem... so effectively by reducing the tanks capabilities EA has made the helicopters way harder to defeat!

sorry for the multiple posts - but the more and more i play - the more and more I am getting pissed off...

What about the different weapons attachments? From I read the patch is supposed to encourage the use of HB or flash suppressor instead of silencers, you confirm?

Not looking forward to this. I never felt the tanks were over powered. Helios are a different story with the fast reload flares. Maybe they should give us tank guys flares.....lol

Try the IR smoke.  It's basically flares for tanks.

I overlooked IR smoke for the longest time, but got tired of being taken out by Javelins, guided missiles, and the like.  It works pretty well against these threats.

But the real question is, is the MAV fixed? What about the USAS frags? Any noticeable difference?

Honestly, I may be in the minority, but I think the repair tool being less effective is a good thing. Too many times has a squad set up with a tank outside a spawn and jsut raped the other team with 1 or 2 Engineers behind them. And if it's less effective, maybe those bastards who use them while in a chopper won't be as bad now either.

Gotta look at the bright side now and then, lol.

I kinda agree. Decent tank teams could dominate a match if a large number of players weren't going anti-tank engineer. Too many times I've kept a tank repaired single-handedly while several engineers were firing away with their RPGs.

One unrelated problem I've noticed is that flying a jet has gotten me stuck in midair, in a sort of stall even when not flying towards high atmosphere.

While I haven't played the game since the patch came out earlier too much, I'm generally liking the changes. I feel like the weapon attachments are finally all viable instead of just the suppressor / foregrip combo.

Played for a few hours this evening. Actually other than the "paper" tank change(I'm a tank guy) I found the game to be fine. I probably shot down more helios than I ever have so there must be some changes to the javelin. If only more people would run soflams or Citv(besides me) or for that matter run javelins.

So far no real complaints. We had fun tonight.

post-patch:

I actually saw very few MAVs in the few games I played post patch.

however according to some youtube vids, you can still ride them if you find the right spot and you can still roadkill with them without blowing up if you get a "headshot" roadkill.

the USAS with Frags are definitely Nerfed.  Fire rate seems slower and damage is way reduced.

semi-auto shotguns seemed buffed a little with tighter spread and maybe slightly higher fire rate cap.

SKS is vastly improved.

the belt-fed LMGs now require either bipod or stationary shooting - no more run and gun or strafing if you want to hit.

You can still do some run and gun with the mag fed LMGs but you kinda have to burst fire to stay on target.

Tanks are pretty nerfed, get taken out far too quickly and you can't really repair before the 2nd shot blows you up.

I did not try any air vehicles.

Claymores are somewhat nerfed in that they go away 5 seconds after you die instead of sticking around.

RPG and SMAW are nerfed against infantry - probably less splash damage.

IRNV seems to work better, but only on certain maps and the Field of View is narrower like the 4x scopes even though it's only 1x.

Suppression is way OverPowered.

Some Medals like Mcom defender are easier to get - I finally got mine post patch.

I did not really try the suppressor since everyone seems to be running heavy barrel now.

I forgot to add,

I played one Knife-only game on a custom server and it was laugh out loud funny with a dozen folks running around trying to knife

and 1 or 2 noobs who couldn't figure it out who were shooting and throwing grenades and were quickly dogpiled by both teams.

I played last night for awhile.  One game of Metro last about an hour.  Talk about "getting stale",...... wow.  I like Metro, but not for an hour+.

I think the guns are now terrible.  I'm not a great player by any stretch, but even I could do ok in a game.  Now however,.... fuggedaboutit.....  :(

I'm a tanker and the tanks are now way under armored.  I guess I don't mind the repair tool being nerfed.  It'll just take more teamwork, but the tanks should be changed to a little higher armor.

Gonna have to relearn how to play the game all over again.

I wish EA/DICE  would quit making drastic, sweeping changes to stuff.

Overall, I give a failing grade to this patch.  I can hardly wait until they patch the patch......

After playing for a few hours last night there were a couple points worth noting.

- The MAV is no longer a ridiculous threat. The ones I saw being used last night were actually being used as MAV's should be, to spot enemies (What a novel idea, right?)

- The Engineer tool is weaker, meaning no unstoppable vehicles.

- The Javelin seems a little better, or maybe it's jsut the weaker armor. A buddy of mine was using it pretty successfully last night.

- They tweaked nearly every weapon. What was beast before is no more. The FAMAS is weaker and less accurate, thank god. Most of the "go to" weapons that people use are different, meaning that it actually comes down to skill in mose contests that I saw. All this means is that just like when the game was new, you need to try out new options until you find something that works.

- Tehran is HUGE now in TDM. Lot's more sniping now, but it's good that it's not such a thin area anymore.

- The HUD colors are different, makes it easier to tell where you are

- Squad layout is different, not sure why they did this. Thought it was better the old way in showing all the available squads.

- Weapon attachments have a much bigger effect. I found myself dropping my 3rd attachments on almost all weapons. Bigger scopes seem different somehow. Can't put my finger on it but the way they feel just isn't the same. Maybe it has something to do with the decreased accuracy on most weapons. Thoughts?

Overall I like it. Less cheap kills, more skill required. Can't run'n'gun as effectively anymore. Need a little more strategy in your play to stay in a positive K/D. It'll just take some getting used to is all.

If you ask me, the tanks/LAVs are just fine.(20-0 in a solo lav on Grand Bazaar) Sure they are a bit easier to destroy, but being a bit smarter (if solo) or rolling with a crew easily neutralizes that.

I'm definitely going back to the canister shell though. With all them engineers running around, I think it's more essential than the guided shell post patch.

The suppression can be annoying at times, but overall I don't think it's "overpowered" and I also thought it was a wee bit harder to kill people (probably due to the new suppression or weapon/attachment tweaks)

Overall, I'm loving the new patch

Oh, I forgot.... Being able to start a match with no countdown timer and leave a room in the stats screen without waiting for the next match to start is awesome

I tested every single aspect of the patch personally for the past 2 days on a private server! They fixed what they said they would fix.. I think overall the game plays smoother , feels better, and actually looks a little better graphically!  No green flashes !!!  Besides having to figure out your loadout perks all over again, I would say this was a successfull patch!

Agree. The first night felt a little sluggish and it was annoying to relearn everything, but after getting back into it, I am a fan of the patched gameplay. SO NICE not to worry about MAV's or USAS Frags (nearly, there's still a person here and there using it, but it's no longer being abused).

Yeah, real sucessful.  Besides the fact that all my weapons from Back to Karkand are missing as well as Wake Island.  I can't even find where the Back to Karkand add on is to redownload.  Am I the only one this has happened to?

I have played Back to Karkand since the patch, and still have all weapons. Don't what the issue with yours may be, but good luck with it.

Its going to take time for me to get used to this patch.

My stats have went down, down, down...  I cant put my finger on exactly what it is though.. Most likely the hit boxes and the tanks getting nerfed!

The main difference is that they messed up with the benefits of the different weapons attachments, I mostly play assault now and the foregrip+silencer combo is not the bread and butter anymore. The good thing is that it will force me to try new weapons and new combos.

Regarding tanks, I don't see much of a difference for now, the bad angles rpg shots I take are still non effectivesmiley

I've moved back to the canister shell. The quick 1-2 punch really helps to keep them rocket toting engineers at bay. And the reactive armor helps out too. Throw in a gunner/engineer with poximity scan and you are good to go smiley

Found that burst firing 5 or 6 shots at a time with most weapons is way more effective than full auto since patch. Only running heavy barrel or flash suppressor on most weapons is way more effective than adding a grip or other attachment. Try it out you will see what i mean!! just my opinion!!

I really like the new patch.  I might have done a few things differently (I miss the persistent claymores), but overall I like it.

Javelins are definitely stronger.  Before the patch, they used to missed their target a lot.  I think there was some sort of glitch going on.  Now, they hit nearly every time.  Also, if the target is laser designated, the Javelins hit from the top and do extra damage.

Helicopters are less of a threat and are more readily taken out.

The infrared (IR) works WAY better.

Overall, I really like the new patch.
