Amazon Streaming app hits the PS3

If you subscribe to Amazon Prime, a streaming subscription is included. We've rented a few movies via Amazon on our Roku box and it works pretty well. Release-day streaming rentals for less than most On-Demand services. I think usually around $4 for new releases.
I picked up Amazon Prime when I got my Kindle Fire, the free streaming TV and movie selection is a bit limited. The per movie/Tv episode prices are very good, and Amazon does run sales quite often. Amazon does keep your purchase forever and lets you get them across any device you access it from, but I have yet to find a "queue" or wishlist for the streaming stuff. I was really hoping the PS3 app would have something :(
fuggin' amurkins... getting all the cool shit.
Take off, hoser!
I need to try this out. Good job on Sony and Amazon's part!
Its both good and bad, in my opinion.
Yes, you "own" the things you buy, but only for as long as you're an Amazon Prime member (you're streaming content, not downloading it). They've added a nice assortment of movies and television that's Prime enabled (meaning you don't pay to watch it), but the new stuff (like Walking Dead or Game of Thrones) will cost you...per episode.
I'm trying the free month out right now, but I don't plan on renewing it. Its $20 more per year than XBL and I use XBL way more than I'll use this.
Its not a bad service, it just isn't for me.
That's not true at all.
Anyone can buy content on Amazon's streaming video service and it will remain in your library. The free streaming stuff is only free if you're a prime member but buying content isn't limited to Prime and won't disappear if/when you cancel Prime.
the reason to get amazon prime is not for the streaming - its a perk - the main reason is the free 2 day shipping on almost anything amazon sells and overnight shipping for $4. on video games prime members get free release date delivery which is essentially free overnight shipping. I haven't tried the ps3 app yet but I just got a roku player which plays amazon videos and prime streaming and I'm happy with it. also all the videos you buy are yours and are DRM free I believe. amazon prime is $79/yr.
No doubt. While using the free 30 day trial of Prime I've been ordering a few things. The 2-day shipping is great. I ordered a new office chair and it arrived the next day. :)
So how is this compared to Vudu?
