Party chat segments the team - hence breaking any concept of "team work". Team work in public games is a broken concept - be it guys hitting on each other in private party chat on the 360 or nobody is talking to each other on the PS3 or random chaos in public chat channels on either system.
Teamwork on public isn't broken unless you have a party chat. We always have a group of 4-6 people playing MW3 for example. It works great. If PS3 could have it that would be great. Too bad the system doesn't have the ram to do it.
Vita has it but not a lot of games have come out yet with true MP.
So if I join an MW3 game on the 360 in "party chat" team work magically happens. But if I play on the PS3 with "team chat" the magic team work thing doesn't happen? That party chat is fucking magic!

I would like to do the same party system on the ps3 like the 360. I like to have a party chat of my friends that we can work together and not have to here all the timmies.
Teamwork is tough to come by when playing with randoms. So what if you put together a party chat.
This isn't a console flammig/war thing. I'm not shitting on the consoles. As you know I own both. I have never be a "fanboy" but that mentalitiy can be found within the Resist forum by some people.

He's not making it a fanboy war. The simple fact is party chat removes the overall teamwork. The same with the squad chat in bf, you exclude a portion of your team there by detracting from teamwork. A simple mute of asshole players is more beneficial than having groups of players wanking each other off in private chat. Teamwork isn't tough with randoms, unless they are assholes (or you are) or you're simply not communicating with them.
edit: I'm not calling you an asshole personally btw, I felt that it could be read that way and wanted to clear that up.

The other side of the coin is it helps teamwork. With those games that have crappy voice communications party chat actually works well to overcome that issue.
I don't beleive party chat hinders team play. Most random people don't really communicate anyways. It sounds more like an excuse to not like party chat.
It's reasoning to say that some 8 person isolated chat feature is not something that improves team work. My point (and I think you somewhat agree) is that team work in a public random game is a broken concept regardless of where you are chatting and who you are chatting to. You can have all the fucking private hot sex chat you want it wont make a fuck of difference if the 11 people not in your party chat are playing sniper or killing each other to steal a fucking plane.
You want team work - play in a private clan match or play in games that only allow the number of players you have to be on 1 team - in which case Party Chat doesn't help one little bit.
BTW I've been PC gaming not console gaming so I use "party chat" all the time via Mumble so it's not some "I hate party chat" thing at all. the best reason for using it for me is that I don't have to invite anyone to jump in and people can hop on and hop all they want without disturbing me as long as the have the password etc. And of course the advantage of being able to turn off in game chat and ignore the other people on my team and still be able to talk to my buddies I'm gaming with(which most games allow you to do in way or another anyway - but it's nice to just set it and forget it)
Right, if you want teamwork private matches are the way to go and xbox party chat isn't big enough for that.
However, let's say you want to play the public with friends and you have enough for a team or even one short. That's usually fine. I did this last night. I started up the GRFS beta. I hopped into a friends' chat party and asked if there was room on their team. There was a spot so I waited around until the next match and joined them. AND then we could still talk to each other while the game was having it's fritzes. Not surprised as it is a beta on its first nice.
Just think of it as another tool. Every tool has a purpose. Not every tool is the right tool, though duct tape and hot glue is the excpetion.
LOL nice.
The PS3 channel would be silence.
I'll take silence any day lol
Silence works well with teamwork. I am usually in party chat so I don't hear them anyway.

Saw this today and it fit in well with the first image in the thread:
