theirs a interview on the dash thats really peaked my intrest about this game, in the video they show using kinect to simulate bringing down a parascope and it zooms from a 3rd person view from within the mech into a first person view where you use the controller to look around and shoot. apparently the kinect controls are used to access the various controls but you actually use the controller for aiming, shooting, manuevering etc.
That sounds like more hassle than it'd be worth. So in the middle of a firefight you have to put the controller down and mime lowering a periscope just to pick the controller up again? Seems like something they could just assign to a D-pad button. I dunno. The first game was cool with the big ass controller, this seems gimmicky and forced.

why would you have to put down the controller? i rather like the idea of having to move between different weapons by zooming out of first person view (that you use the controller) and having to manuever within your mech to access your other controls by using kinect. my brother who was in desert storm and was the driver of a tank, having to communicate with others in your tank to load the rounds and to come to a complete stop and point the gun so that you can accuratley shoot, making sure your broad side isnt visible to the enemy. honestly this chit sounds awesome to me.
I really want this game to work but I think making it Kinect ONLY was a huge mistake. Mech games attract a certain following of gamer that is never huge in numbers so adding the restriction of Kinect only will further limit the audience. Mech guys are not going to go buy a Kinect just to play this game. Better with Kinect would have been a better choice, lol
I do fear the game will have limited customization with the story being void of technology. I hope its not going to be a bunch of turtles with biped legs and nothing else.

All that being said, I will still try it out:)
the games not kinect only, its kinect+controller.
Can you play it without kinect? That makes it kinect only.

"Requires Kinect" means you cannot play this game without a Kinect. It utilizes both Kinect and controller but if you cannot just use a controller. Note the game box bottom left.
"Better with Kinect" on the game box means you do not need a Kinect to play the game but the game experience is better with a Kinect. Note game box bottom right.
Hope this clears up what I mean when I say mech guys are NOT going to go buy a kinect to play this game.
looked inot it. From the link below you can find out what all the different stores are offering as pre-order bonuses. I think there are 3 different packs with 2 mech variants in each. Also some recent pre-views and hans-ons.\ As well as a tutorial for playing the game with Kinect. Plenty of vids!

i think alot of people are dismissing this game way to soon, everything ive read about it makes it sound really bad ass and incredibly fun to play. i honestly think that kinect+controller is going to become standard with many games next gen and im looking forward to the creative things thats going to be done using the hybrid.

Listen, I never regretted buying a $200 controller to play the xbox game, and I wasn't alone.
If this one gets decent reviews, i'll buy a kinect! F%$# it; I am pre-ordering for extra mechs!
