Community Bounty Hunter 4/24 - Drive It Like It's 1999
"May Day! May Day! We're going to drag you out of April and kickin' and screamin' into next month with this one - a chance to (maybe) beat up on Snowowl in a drag racing showdown "Drive Like It's 1999" in the Rivals section under Community Monthly."

No time set yet, but whatever it is, there's already a Top 100 capable tune in my SF from DirtT Tuned Racing and psyber with 800+ downlaods already. Plus a new one that will go up tonight that is slightly harder to launch, but also slightly quicker.
If we've already posted a time, do we have to beat our existing times during this week?
I'm at 15.05 right now per fm.net.. I guess we'll see whrere he comes in. :) (That's 848 on LB)
Does Owl Drag race?
If you already posted a time and it's faster than SnowOwl (above him on the LB) at the end of the Bounty Hunter Challenge, it counts. So no need to re-run unless he beats the time you've posted prior.
Thank you, sir!
If he bests my 14.898 FM.net will assplode, so I think I'm good.
You're spot on about that!

Cool, already ran the Lotus a bit, not LB worthy, but pretty quick.
Snowowl ran a 22.022 which beats the 22.389 I set waaayyyy back at the begining of April in a B500 MX-5 Miata.
Looks like I'm going shopping tonight so I can show the Owl whooo's boss. :-)
Bought a lovely tune from M3. Recouped the 40k investment and then some beating up on a few rivals before setting a 14.998.
Hardest part was getting the launch right.
Nice job, guys.
For those wondring, the tune is only 1000 but I had to buy the car for 28k and spend another 11k on the tune's upgrades.
A small price to pay to beat up on one of the mods.
Surely he'll run that 22.000 down? Thats horrible...I think I'm in the real low 15's...
Just don't tell him about M3's tune on his SF.. LOL
I put up a slightly faster tune (also from psyber) for free late last night in my SF. The $1K 727 build is much easier to launch and we got a best of 14.882 with that tune. The newer free 725 build is slightly harder to launch and be consistent with, but I ended up with a 14.842. Either one should put you comfortably ahead of SnowOwl.
The giant in the room as far as drag tunes are concerned is PAC Performance. But both psyber and I are ahead of him on the LB with this latest free tune.
Instructions on how to use the tunes are in the description. To get sub-15 second times, you have to use zero assists and manual w/clutch.
You ran a 848 same as me liar! hehehee
Damn! I think the first people to get the times should be higher, not vice versa. Anyway... good to see you got the launch down.
I might give her a few more runs but I think that 848 is my limit and maybe even the car's too.
I haven't looked, but is the tune doing well on the SF (both actually)???
I have the 727 and am sitting at 15.3 i think. But I got to thinking, I am almost certain I'm holding the clutch in waiting on the timer...that's gotta be worth a quarter second right? Back at it tonight!
Yeah-transposed the numbers from my old time. I've only had 4 hours of sleep last night because I was working on D2NR club business.
It's obviously NOT the same as you since I am AHEAD of you on the LB. If you didn't know, Forza keeps track of the time beyond hundreths of seconds as shown on the LB. So it has nothing to do with the date is which you post the seemingly exact time. What's important to me is that we're both ahead of PAC Performance.
The 14.882 tune cost $1K and was launched a week ago or so--I can't remember. It got into the Most Downloaded section for a couple of days. Before the SnowOwl event started, it had about 750 downloads. It's about 1,100 now. But the downloads got hit quite a bit once PAC Performance posted to SnowOwl's thread about his free release--they have quite the following from previous Drag bounties.
The free 14.848 tune I released without advertisement this morning. Only about 100 downloads so far I think.
@Oldschool--no need to hold clutch at start! The clutch will drop automatically at "GO." If you miss the launch, you will either stall the car or spin out. In both cases, restart immediately if you don't get the launch perfect with little to no wheelspin. You can't get sub-15 times without the right launch.
I used your newer build and was able to get 15 seconds flat, so I'm hoping that will get it done because I do not have to skills to get it any lower. It is tremendously fast once you get the little hesistation on the launch down.
One thing that I did differently was shift just short of the limiter through all gears (I know you instructed not too!), but I seemed to have a faster trap speed doing it that way. 181 v. 180 shifting at redline for 3-5
Either way I'm very happy at shaving 1/2 second off of my time. Thanks fellas!
On the new build, you want to shift at limiter (around 8000 rpm--limiter is around 8100-8200rpm) from 1 to 2. From 2 through 5, shift at around 7500rpm (NOT at redline around 6800 rpm?). Yes--terminal speed should be 181. On a very rare occasion, it will flash 182 at the end.
I'd say you're pretty safe if your LB rank is 1,000 or better right now, 2,000 or better at the end. The toughest CBH was Monkey's Among Giants, and only about 1,700 people beat him. All the others have been above 3,000 winners I believe. I don't think SnowOwl is going to make it too hard.
I went at it last night and went from a 15.549ish to a 15.134(?). Launch is very critical and very finicky. That said, if you get it right, it flys! I made that transition with no less than 5 wins, crawled my way up. Sorry Fitzy
Thats ok Oldschool, I will forgive you if you send me the paint for the Aussie V8.
Nope, that's an OCS Team paint at this time. It will become available AFTER the race...
That will do fine, I will be checking my file depot the second I finish the race.
SnowOwl is more like SlowOwl. And he's being quite snippy about posting his current time in the original post--a fairly simple request I thought.
I think if you're in the low 15's, you should be safe. If he's going to post anything fast, he's going to have to resort to using the Elise. He's most assuredly not going to do that. I did add him as a Favorite if you need to keep track of it, but he's posting sorry times right now using untuned cars, auto-transmission and other nonsense.
I've got a feeling that he's going to wait till the last minute then post a repectable time so few people have a chance to beat it. I just hope my 14.9xx will stay.
Well, he's about the most "friendly" of the mods over there, and even then, he's gotten a bit snippy and defiant in this thread. Last minute or not, consider how irresistable you think it is to drive a car emblazoned with all of the FM.net mods GT's. Then spend your time accordingly.
We gotta recruit this 70-year old to 2Old4Forza though:
I've alredy talked to him and gotten nowhere...
LOL, yeah, yeah, it's in the mail, that's it...
Here's a possible sign of things to come in the Drag times?
RMKip455: It is a side contest, for the fun of it. We've done that all the time in each Bounty Hunter thread, in fact even in the code give-aways - simply to spice up the action. You want to run 18 seconds, be happy with your "win" in this week's Bounty Hunter or have a little more fun on the side?

I was trying to follow, but was getting nowhere.. Are we waiting for a side contest to be announced? What is with all the talk of playing FM2?
I believe that they had a side contest where you had to do one race in FM2, one race in FM3 and one in FM4 to get the prize.
At least that's what I gathered from a quick skimming of the thread yesterday, but I really haven't been paying too much attention to this one as it seems like a chore to find anything for this bounty.
Personally I liked how last weeks bounty set up the side contests, even if I didn't win anything.
That was a very last minute thing that another mod put together. I think only three people showed up. Plus that mod wanted it to be over so that he could go join the Game with Developers. Personal priorities being what they are.
SlowOwl himself has been pretty much "too busy" to do anything--including posting his current time in the OP. But he did spend some time justifying why he isn't putting any of the sorry, half-hearted times in the OP. And he took a shot at everyone that was posting their times using the LB Elise.
Look, I understand you have a thankless job of being a FM.net mod. But no one held a gun to your head and said that's what you had to do. Frankly, their attitude stinks, but we all already know that.
