RIVALS EVENT: Easy Racers
CURRENT TIME TO BEATMay 14th: 01:45.537 Corvette C1 (#610 on LB)
May 15th: 01:45.098 Corvette C1 (#501 on LB)
May 16th: 01:44.776 Corvette C1 (#498 on LB)
DEADLINE: May 21st 8AM PST
We at DirtT Tuned Racing have two free tunes on my SF to tackle this Flyin' Finn. A Lotus Cortina by F1SH0 and a Nissan Fairlady Z 432 by MURPH/psybertech. Both are in the Top 100 for the event.
Won't be easy though--he's aiming for a Top 500 time at the end.
Fairlady feels a bit more planted than the Lotus. Ran a 1:44.773. Ahead of warcy by four places. I don't think I'm safe but info think I can go a bit quicker.
Ill probably give the lotus another go if I hit a wall with the z.
Nice tunes, as always. Makes my life easier.
Thanx for the feedback--it's always welcomed!
I think the Cortina handles elevation changes better, but wears on my arms more since the castor is much higher. I need to give it some more time once he posts his final time. I'm at 1:44.777. Yes--one hundreth of a second behind the Finn currently!
I will nip over and pick the tunes up one day this weekend.
I can see this bounty ending in a destroyed joypad.
I ran this Rival event when it first started and got a 1.45.023, put me in the 600s on the LB I figured if they did a community event here I would be well inside the time. Then I see the time Finn put up and I cried just a little bit. I might try and improve but I doubt my skills are up for the challenge.
The title of the Rivals event is Easy Racers. That Finn is anything but--he just set a new time:
NEW TIME TO BEAT: 1:44.238 Corvette C1 (#367 on LB)
I'm not sure he understands the spirit in which these events are supposed to be run. If you're interested in the prize car livery, it's up on his SF for free. I recommend downloading that rather than keep chasing a moving time that he says won't be set till Saturday that will probably end up in the Top 250.
I looked at this and saw a R series Jag and thought, "I already have a paint and don't need the car, but what the heck I'll take a run at it". Now I'm thinking "I already have a paint so..."
I know I set a decent time in this event when it first came out, but now the Leaderboards at FM.net aren't working so I can't even check what it is. Guess I will have to check when I get home later. I really like the track so I'm gonna be chasing this one.
@M3Rocket. Any chance I could get a copy of those tunes? I will also get them on your SF and give a rating. Thanx.
I have a help request. Please download and rate these free rival tunes in my SF as they have been hit again by hate raters. Last night, the Fairlady was nearly 5 stars with 89 downloads and was appearing in Top Rated. Within a couple of hours, the upload count went to 100 and the tune had been downrated to 4 stars.
This happens often with any of our paints and tunes. Since it's usually free or 1000 Fredits, the Timmies and hate raters always try to clear that Top Rated board for their buddies. It's the easiest LB to appear in (just about 10 downloads at 5 stars will chart you) and to get some attention. Our drag tune is currently in Most Downloaded. That chart is harder to manipulate cause you need larger numbers to get on it.
@Troyscloth: Yes--I'll get you the tunes tonight when I get on my Xbox.
Oh--I got an update from MSNNINJA (the guy who's #1 on that leaderboard with an Alfa tune) that he ran a 1:42.242 with the DirtT Fairlady Z 432 tune in that Rivals event! That puts it in the Top 15 easily when I checked the LB's last night.
The leaderboards are working at FM.net now. I checked my time and it is at 1:44.925. I did that with a quick tune I threw together. With a decent tune I should be able to knock enough time off to get under the current time. This guy needs to back off though. As someone already mentioned, he doesn't get the spirit of the competition.
I'll pop back on tonight and rate the tunes. I need to be better about doing that.
Best reasoned post so far about the #369 time. If my hunch at the beginning of this is correct, the Finn is aiming to be Top 500 at the end.
I'll rate your tunes when I get a chance to get on later tonight. That's pretty sad that people go around trying to downrate people.
Already bought and rated, I did notice the star rating on the cortina was quite low.
Bought and rated the tunes and was waiting for the unlocked version. Decided to tweak my own Cortina tune and give it a try since I hadn't put much effort into it when the Rivals first came out. I was able to get it down to 1:43.677 which is currently 190 on the leaderboard. Hopefully it holds up because I don't think I can get much more out of it, maybe a tenth or 2 at the most for me. If anyone else wants to try it, let me know. I will put in on my SF for free and I can gift it to anyone who wants it.
Thanx for the assist on the ratings. Since DirtT got "noticed" and started charting, our SF's (Kurupt, Roo, mine) have all been targeted. Anytime anything new goes up and it starts showing up on Top Rated or Most Downloaded, a band of about 6-12 peeps will go hit the SF and bring the ratings down. It's predictable. The only counter we have is to make sure it has as many downloads and good ratings as possible prior to officially launching it on FM.net. That way, it becomes more difficult to affect the rating.
I know we gift a lot of paints and tunes to members here. Every time we do that, we lose a download and rating if the member doesn't go to our SF to get the tune/paint and then to rate it. This is part of the "game" that we have to play to rise above the noise on FM.net. There are many competitors on FM.net vying for attention, so anytime we can get help from our home base, it is much appreciated.
Also note that if you download and don't rate, the default is 3-stars. If you rate something but don't download, it won't count towards the overall rating.
Sorry about the delay in getting you the tunes Jarhead. I'm actually typing this from work as I'm in CA and don't get home till at least 7. You will have them tonight once I get home and turn on Forza.
No problem Rocket. The main reason I like to get your tunes is to compare them to mine and get ideas. They're usually not that much different. I really like the satisfaction of using my own tunes and getting decent results, but it never hurts to have more information. Send me a message anytime you post a tune and I can always buy and rate it for you.
warcryFin posted what he said will be the final time to beat:
May 18th FINAL TIME TO BEAT: 1:44.153 Corvette C1 (#455 on LB)
So I'm safe, I ran a 1:43.677 last night with the Cortina. You all have until May 21st, 8am EST (1600 GMT) to beat the time. If anyone wants to use my tune, it's free on my storefront. If you want an unlocked copy, send me a message on Xbox live.
I'm gonna give that a try. Stewie and I were goofing around beating people with C Class Austin's, but I guess it's time to get serious.
I posted a 1:43 time last night with F1SH0's Cortina, but XBL disconnected and the frakkin' game gave me the XP and credits but didn't register the time on the LB! Gotta do it all over again this weekend. It helped me tremendously to draft TrackAssassin's ghost around.
I'm currently 2 seconds behind looking at the normal LB so I may have my work cut out for me, or I may just leave it after a few laps, hard to say so far, but I will be trying the Cortina, and I'm really interested in the Gulia Sprint...
We had an Alfa tune for this but abandoned it when SMS beat us to the release. We never got around to tweaking it, but it's psyber's build/tune if you want it.
I've been so off on the first and last sections these past two days. I'm just not consistent. I was running mid 1.44s when I posted my so far best time, but since then I am having a hard time getting mid 1.45s t 1.46s! I am broken!!!! I am thinking I need a few days to a week off or something to recharge my batteries... or perhaps not play under the influence... yeah, probably not gonna happen. :P
@Rocket... wow! the ninja dude ran a 1.42.2 in the Lady? Nice! I knew that build/tune had more in it for sure and in the end I think I will be re-running that over the GTA. The GTA is fast but at the expense of a good ride. THe last build I played with was a build form Murph that tunable parts and that felt great but again, I couldn't lay down anything consistent.
Not sure if I will re-run this. Who am I kidding, if I fire up FM4, sure I will. But this track and these cars are starting to piss me off!
Anyway........
The #1 time pretty much sealed the deal for SMS on that Alfa. It wasn't considered a LB car for this event till that tune hit. Good enough became not good enough after that. Funny how some were going out of their way to not use the LB Cortina, but then ended up using the LB Alfa.
I haven't seen anyone post that they beat the Finn with the car he drove--a C1. Funny but predictably enough, the Finn doesn't consider himself an "Elite" driver.
With his current time, my guess is less than 1,000 people or so will beat him. Which makes him the toughest bounty to date. That makes two of the most difficult Bounty Hunters with the fewest winners (Monkey had about 1,700 winners on that Hummers Track Day) were actually times run by Painters.
The drift ones are really hard.
I even gave up on the last one.
And it was a unicorn car
Ran 10 lap sessions in the Fairlady, Cortina and SMS's Afla.
Whittled my time down to a 1:44.3xx but couldn't get below that.
Finally decided to see if switching to manual w/ clutch would get me those last few tenths.
Decided to stick with the Lady. Of the three she was the most forgiving and also required the fewest shifts per lap (8) which was a big plus.
It took about 12 laps to put it all together but I finally managed to post a 1:43.925. Good enough to beat WarCry.
@M3Rocket - I might try the Cortina later. After running 42+ laps this evening, I think I'm going to take a break from Infineon for a bit.
I finally beat it with the Datsun. Like Shaggy said, it was very forgiving.
I tried tuning my own Alfa, but that thing is hard to get the rear end settled on, and in the end I prefered the extra grip that the Fairlady had anyhow. Another great tune by D2NR
The event deadline is now past. Less than 800 people in front of the Finn. So toughest CBH challenge by a long mile. Monkey's CBH had about twice that number of winners.
Wow, I was just checking the LB for this event and out of the 31 people in my club and friends list who ran it, only 7 beat the time set by warcryFin. And I see who I consider some fast drivers that didn't make the cut. Has to be the hardest hot lap community bounty so far.
