They are making the transfers restrictive. If you do want to transfer they are only going to let you go to specific servers. Instead of server transfers I was hoping for a consolidation. Although our server has got to be one of the worst.
I'm kinda hoping our server will be a destination server. There are a few times there are at least 100 imps and 80ish rebs online, sometimes more. The catch to me is you can't choose where you want to go, like there are a couple of other 2o2p people out there on different servers and we most likely won't be able to hook up for now. But I'm glad they aren't waiting for 1.3 to do this. Glad it is next week. Of course, it doesn't matter to me if they don't fix the damn sound bug before my sub is up because I'll be canceling if it is still around in Aug.
We'll find out in a few days. They will probably take a few PVP servers and funnel them to 1 PVP server, same with PVE and the rest. So if people are on other servers and if they are PVE, we most likely still won't be able to hook up. At least not until Paid transfers come about. Again, that's just speculation.
They really need to just do the mega servers and call it a day. Also, paid transfers is a bullshit money grubbing shitty move. Especially for a game as dead as SWTOR.
From what I read, we won't have a choice on what server to choose. If we are not a destination server, we will have a server to transfer too. So everybody that is on Warriors of the Shadow will continue to be together no matter what.
We are on Warriors of the Shadow, which was an OG server and used to be mega crowded. No clue what tomorrow brings because god forbid Bioware actually informs anyone. Honestly, these server "transfers" are just Bioware's way of saying mergers. You won't have a choice as to what server to pick (otherwise I'd go Fatman). So they will roll X amount of serverst to 1 and eventually (and quietly) kill the old servers.
And I also need to determine on what toon to focus on. I really like the trooper (Vanguard DPS Specced) a lot, so fare it's my favorite class. Sure the Power Tech Bounty Hunter is exactly the same but the Trooper's armor just looks so much better. Their endgame armor is sick. I also like PVPing with the Republics, they just seem to always win. I'm sure my 350K damage in Huttball helps a lot.
Keller's Void To Jedi Covenant PVE East Hedarr Soongh to The Fatman PVP East Soresu to The Harbinger PVE West Rakata Mind Prison to The Bastion PVP West
I'm surprised they are moving people to the Fatman being that it's already full. I understand that they are greatly increasing server caps. I guess they are shooting for the mega servers after all. Looks like we'll wind up on the Bastion. If all west pvp servers are going there. I was hoping for just 1 PVP server.
Hedarr Soongh may have been a really low pop server and that's why they put them on Fatman. We'll see if Bastion is our server or not. Hope to find out soon.
Just reading the swtor and found that The Bastion looks to be a low pop server. That's the vibe I got
Went from Kellers to Jedi Covenant. Process took about 10 minutes to complete. Logged in to website, went to "char transfer", clicked the server and boom, new home. The biggest pain is reconstructing your friends list, reforming your guild, and changing your UI. It defaults back to the original UI when you log in, but luckily it saves your old one so it doesnt take long to get back to how you had it.
I went from playing 2-3 WZ a day on Kellers to having a WZ pop everytime I hit the PvP button. Fleet is so packed that it chugs my computer.
One of the biggest changes I noticed was the economy on Jedi Cov. The enhancement you get from the Poison Strat Daily on Ilum (Empire side) sells for 75k. Which is hilarious. It sold for 20k on Kellers. Alien Data Cubes sell for 150k on Jedi Cov, they were 75k on Kellers. Inflation looks to be much higher on populated servers.
I knew about the guilds and guild banks having to be recreated, which I'm not so sure we need to do anymore as only a handful of us still play. The Friends list does suck. It's a shame they don't have a Real ID setup like WoW. Where I'd know if people signed on regardless of faction or server. You'd think they'd make a MMO super simple to hook up with friends.
Hopefully, they start doing more transfers today. They had an issue (go figure) and had to stop to correct it. Would be nice to see other people in the game.
We cleared out the guild bank. We didn't know if anyone still played. Wasnt anything worthwhile in the troopers bank. And most of the imp bank was junk except some crafting materials. Which we used. Just credits left.
Sorry if thats an issue. I figured I'd give the people that still played the stuff they could use rather than it getting wasted.
Been checking the swtor forums for guild recruitment. Being on a Western Server is going to be rough for me. A lot of clans are recruiting but their raid times are PST (which makes sense for a Western server) but I can't do a weekday 8-12 raid. If they ever open up paid transfers, I'll have to seriously look at an Eastern Server since the 2o2p's guilds are dead.
If you like being the only person on a server, then no. They may be calling transfers, but they really are mergers and I don't think you really have a choice. All the western PVP servers are going to the Bastion. Last night there was 300+ on the Republic fleet alone. Warzone queues were instant pops. There is stuff to buy on the GTN.
Yesterday, 104 new origin servers were made available for transfers. Combined with the 18 origins released on Tuesday, that brings us to a total of 122 origin servers transferring to 18 destination servers - a grand total of 140 out of 217 servers were a part of the transfer process by the end of yesterday. However, Joveth Gonzalez has said that they expect fewer servers to become available today and that transfers will likely continue into next week:
So funny they stress "Transfers" when it's really mergers (bad word for mmo's). 122 servers down to 18. MMO's really need to abandon the whole "server" thought. Let me go and play where I want and with who I want.
SWTOR.com's community sure is special. Last week all the posts were people bitching about ghosttown servers. Bioware merges servers, now they're bitching about overcrowding. Truly amazing.
Yea, I saw some of The Fatman people complaining that when they clicked to join a Warzone they were instantly booted because the wz had already filled up. I call bs on that gripe, I think that is a different problem. I'm loving the heavy population. I had to actually wait in queue before I could join last night, it only took about 5 minutes so not a problem. I played my 50 Assassin in WZ and they were popping within 5 minutes and the games were mostly competitive and I wasn't seeing the same group over and over. There were at least 3 or 4 instances of the same WZ going at the same time, i.e. you join Hutball and see 40odd players. I never had a Sith vs Sith game either.
Maybe they shouldn't have transferred if they don't like playing with other people.
actual open world pvp happened on Tatooine in the PVP area. 1st a couple of 50 rebs were harrassing lowbies near dune sea. I saw one imp 50 trying to take them on. i brought my 50 assassin to help. before you knew it there were 20 rebs, then 20 imps, and we were all fighting in the pvp area chasing each other back to the bases as forces trickled down.
What's the catch?
I know guild banks won't transfer and will have to manually recreate it. But who the fuck cares, Bad/Good Idea is all but dead.

Just hope all the surviving guild can transfer to the same server at least we can still play together. It would sucks if we can't.

I heard most of the servers is like 350 peeps max and the fat man server pvp has like 2000 on at most times
What server is the guild on??

Our server is not on the list :( for now.
Here are the source to destination servers:
Keller's Void To Jedi Covenant PVE East
Hedarr Soongh to The Fatman PVP East
Soresu to The Harbinger PVE West
Rakata Mind Prison to The Bastion PVP West

more servers are popping today. still waiting to see what happens to ours.
If you have 8 characters (Al?) you may want to read this thread as a heads up.

It looks like all West Coast PVP servers are going to The Bastion. So I bet that's where we go.
We're up
Warriors of the Shadow --> The BastionMine
Mine are in progress. says they're already done, going to wait 30 minutes before i try to login
thanks for the post. T3. I will be transfering over tonight. have to figure out what to to with the guild bank first though.
I had to change the names of Temujin and Squegee :( Not sure what names to use yet
Ha, my names are safe. Go figure. Now, do I look for a new guild or start one?
I transfered my characters over, but I don't know yet if I will be playing much.
I got into the beta test this weekend for The Secret World, been thinking I may give that a try when it releases.
If you want to try it out, they still had some beta keys left here. http://www.mmorpg.com/giveaways.cfm/offer/349/The-Secret-World-Beta-Weekend-3-Hell-Raised-Key-Handout.html

should i even bother transfering my toon ?

Lots of PVP me likes :)
Is there a guild set up yet?
