Hey, my friend Wikiri (from ME3 on xbox) directed me here, I'm looking at joining up with a reputable group for Mechwarrior Online, and he was talking about this group. Follow-up post over in the appropriate forum for that.
Not much to tell, I'm in my mid-30s, technically on xbox & PS3, but mostly do PC gaming.

I'm killing time with Stronghold Kingdoms on Steam, but honestly, I'm just waiting until Mechwarrior Online comes out. I guess most recently before that, ME3 and SWTOR, but neither held my interest.

Welcome from a fellow newb to the site. 40 something here used to play all PC, got an xbox for xmas last year and been spending more and more time on that. Is the Mechwarrior going to be a free to play?
Yep, Mechwarrior Online is free-to-play. www.mwomercs.com
They say that the goal is to have it so that people who do pay just get to things faster, not able to buy things unavailable to the free players.
There's a little bit of discussion about it going on in the Mech forum.
