I have never been to NY myself.....but i've been told by many that the people of NYC, NY are some of the biggest aholes in the states. Fuck I will trade you citizenship. Yours for mine and i'll go live in a cabin on a lake in canada. I love it there.
I actually think New Yorkers are some of the warmest people I've ever met, granted I'm in my 40's so the amount of dicks I encounter has been very low. Yankee fans non withstanding
My dad is in Manhattan and I have been travelling there for years so I'm pretty familar with the place.
I would consider Chicago it's my favorite city to look at buildings but the crime is flat out appaling and unacceptable to me. New York's crime rate is less then half of Chi town, plus I would have to drive.
My wife is from upstate NY. I live in the south. Visited NYC once and sell hell no. Upstate is nice, but the city is too much for me. I guess I'm used to smaller towns and dealing with heat.
Spot: Yes Chicago crime is awful however if you don't stray into the wrong neighborhoods you'll be fine. Once we finally get concealed carry passed here (which should have been long ago), some of these thugs will think twice about purse snatching and beating on innocent people. A .45 to the eye socket will change a lot of peoples minds about what they were just intending to do. I'll be taking my concealed carry class maybe over the winter months if I can swing it.
A big plus is NYC has more women then men oh yeah !
What I found odd about Chicago is there really is no inbetween it's either a good 'hood or something scary and the dividing line can be a street, not so much areas more like pockets.
