I didn't mean notifications. I meant is there anyway to just unsubscrive (leave) an unwanted group. I know you can with Clans, but I can't find that option for the groups that I got added to.
Same here Doodi. I'm now a member, not by choice, in 3 public groups that I can't seem to get out of. On the forum overview page, it used to show the 3 groups I'm a member of, now it's a total of 6 groups. When I go to My page which is the only place I seem to be able to edit groups, it only shows 3 groups, 2o2pHalo, Staff and 2Euro2play, the ones I've choosen to be part of. The other 3, well...I don't find an option to stay/leave anywhere?!?
Just to clear things up. A public group acts exactly like any other public forum on 2o2p. You are not a member of that group if you don't sign up for it which is why it doesn't show up on your page. You don't get updates for the group, nor does it show up on the left hand side of the forums in your group list.
Instead, being public means that it shows up for everyone regardless as the group is "public". It's meant to be a completely open place for anyone to post. You can also become a member of that group if you want, but you're certainly not obligate to. So to sum it up, this isn't a bug and its working as intended for public groups. They are meant to be shared with everyone on 2o2p and not be insular or hidden from the rest of 2o2p.
Look at it this way, if they were hidden or segregated then they really wouldn't be public. One of the pitfalls of 2o2p as it stands is that most of our traffic goes into a clan forum and dies from there. A new member coming to the site looks at the forums and says, "where is everyone?" They have no idea there are 30 clan forums hidding out there. Divisions and public groups aims to change that. It's the soul reason why we're not doing private groups anymore. I don't think 2o2p can survive much longer with them.
Is there anyway to divide the way My Groups and the Public Groups are listed. It would be nice if they were a seperate section that I could close and not view at all.
I'll make sure new groups don't do that automatically. But yeah, LB actually explains how to turn that off in his little video in New In Town.

To leave any group you simply go to my groups on the top right hand side of the site.
i don't have the option to leave any public groups. i can only leave the private groups like 2o2pHalo and the staff group.
maybe a header for private group forums and a header for public group forums? just a thought.
