YouTube links not working properly - looks to be Mac OS centric

Computer specs-

MacBook Pro running Mac OS 10.7.4

3.06 Ghz Core 2 Duo

8Gb RAM

Adobe Flash 11.3.300.268 (latest version)

Browser versions - Firefox 14.0.1 and Safari 5.1.7  The issue is the same in both browsers.

Issue-

When I click on the play button, pause button, anywhere on the YouTube preview window I get the message indicating that I am going to an outside site. I can click cancel and the video will play within the preview window on the 2old2play site. If I click the pause button, etc. I get the same popup window indicating that I am navigating away from the 2old2play site.  I have tried this on two different Macs with two different operating systems and the behavior is the same.  I have tried it on two different Windows based computers and the behavior is as expected - you can press the play button and the video plays on the 2old2play site without the dialog box.

Screenshots-

Before clicking the play button (Safari):

After clicking the play button (Safari):

After clicking the play button (Firefox):

Well that's just shitty.  I"ll add youtube to the exceptions list when I get home for work.  That will fix it.

Let me know if it's fixed for you.  You may need to clear cache first.

I don't get the dialog box now. Instead when I click on the play button the video starts to play for a split second on the 2old2play site and then the browser loads the YouTube page and starts playing the video there. YouTube opens in the original browser window, it is not a new window or tab.

I discovered something odd.

I first had this problem on this thread-

http://2old2play.com/forum/divisions/halo-series/moment-silence-pleasevideo-halo-4-jetpack-498102

and that is the thread I would return to in order to check if the bug was fixed or not.

I recently tried videos in other threads and they work as expected but the videos in that ONE thread don't work right. I would assume at this point that the problem lies somewhere in YouTube land?

Sorry, that was all wrong.

The problem is still there and in multiple threads. I just tested it again with Safari and Firefox.

However, all the videos and windows perform as expected when viewed in Chrome. 82

Seems to be youtube / video specific.

In this thread on my iMac w/ Safari the first couple of youtube links go to youtube directly.  The videos I posted in this thread play on 2o2p as intended.

That's really odd.  I'm on a Mac OS X version 10.6.8 and can't seem to replicated this issue on Firefox or Safari. I'm wondering what else could be the issue unless our slightly different OS versions has to do with it.  I'm using the lastest Firefox to test, but and I just recently updated my Flash.

Hey GIJoeBob

I think I just figured it out, but I need you to test that same thread. If I'm right this is what's happening....

1) In version 3 when someone wants to post a youtube embed, all they need to do is post a link to the video and it automatically gets converted into an embed (its fucking magic!)

2) Some people still think they need to embed the links by hand and when they can't find that option they move to step 3.

3) Usually by this point they make the URL a simple link to the video on youtube. (IE directly linked to video on youtube using a hyperlink)

For those in the 3rd example the site is now doing 2 things. 1st, it's taking the URL and auto embedding it like it should. 2nd, it thinks the embed is ALSO a hyperlink so it makes the entire box a link to youtube. Chrome realizes this is an error and ignores the hyperlink, but Safari and FF say, "HEY GUYS THIS IS A LINK WE SHOULD GO THERE!"

If I'm right, the previous thread should now work as I deleted the hyperlink. In the future I'll need to write some logic if its a hyperlink, but hopefully as more people use the site they will catch on to our auto embed feature as well. I probably need a note someone explaining it when people post as well.

That must have been it. The videos in the thread in question are working as expected. So, everything is working, it's the users that have the bugs. 53
