Got an idea
I know this is kinda been discussed but with some the new games coming out shortly Im sure we all are gonna be very engulfed with them , so I think we should all get a game going a retro type or even style type game . Let throw out some suggestions and see what we can come up with ..Keep in mind there is time&timezone factors involved so lets all try to be fair to everyone a good time for me would be friday ,sat & sunday nights ..Also maybe it might be worth mentioning this the Achievment hunters clan Im sure some of those guys would be up for it ..Ok enough of my rant
For the Achievement Hounds this would work if we created sessions for the purpose of working on achievements for old games that no one plays much any longer. However, if the community just wants to set up a night for retro gaming I would think they'd want to focus on the fun of playing the game not working for achievements. That's not to say that achievement hunting can't be fun, it's just that, for the sake of efficiency, if you set up sessions for that purpose then that is what your focus should be on and that can take some of the joy out of just playing a game for it's own sake which is what I feel a retro gaming night should be about.
I do like your idea GUL, provided it's made clear what the gaming night is for. I could see running multiple rooms so that those who want to play for fun and those who want to work on achievements each can do so without interfering in the others enjoyment.
I'm down for it.
Good idea man but I'm thinking more of filling up a room type thing..But that could be something to do for the future
I'd be curious to see how this goes. It sounds like fun.
If you guys have some ideas for games that are retro or that we could play in a retro style throw them out here
many of the retro styled games on xbl have leaderboards, some of the games im playing are MrDriller, Spelunky (old school 80's pc game), BangBangRacing (plays like rc pro am). competing against each other on leaderboards is about as close as were going to get to playing in the arcade.
The leaderboard is today's version of the classic High Score screen... except you don't get to type in ASS as your name. lol
DOOM is a solid choice.
Great idea. Any games with maybe 4 player co-op? What about Simpsons arcade, TMNT arcade or Guardian Heroes?
Although I never played it, what about the new counterstrike thats out on XBL?
The only retro game on live that I play is the Pinball Arcade which is almost the same as the williams collection pinball that came out a while back.
Anyone play Quake Arena?
I've never played a Quake game.
Its really cool I originally played it on pc . FPS kinda fast pace game ..they have it on xbl for games you could buy , try the demo for it you might like it
I'll check it out. Is it disc-based or XBLA?
its on xbl 1200ms
I'll probably download it tonight.
Check out the demo see if you like it before you buy it
I liked it, and will likely grab it this morning. And it's only 800 points. :)
800 even better ..I couldn't remember the price before thought it was like 1200
I played quake arena on PC, wasn't aware they had a version on xbox... also looking into it. Thanks GUL!
I use to play it on pc also along with unreal tournament & tribes..ahh the old days...lol
Have you played that yet?
I have Doom on XBL. I played it through and have all achievements except the multiplayer so that would be a good choice for me. It really is a classic game.
Seriously though guys I'm probably the only one on here who is in an awkward time zone so just go ahead without me. With jobs, kids etc it would be very hard for me to commit anyway.
What is your time zone? The leader of my other Clan is in Norway, and I have friends in Ireland, Sweden, Taiwan, and the Philippines... I'm used to time zone differences. :)
