Career Change – Any Advise?
Parcells figures this Internet fad is near its death and with it goes my career as a business analyst so I need to start thinking about my future.
In my previous life I pretended to be an architect. I do have a lead to become a Latex salesperson but am seriously considering getting into the importer/exporter business, perhaps focusing a bit more on importing?
Anyone have any advise for Parcells?
Call Art Vandelay. I heard he's got all the answers.
Parcells appreciates everyone's advise but clearly Rusty's is the most correct advise. I owe you a solid Greg!
Parcells...Best of Luck...You seem to me to be a person that will be successful at anything you put your mind to!!!

...As for your thinking about the internet being a fad that is doom and gloom....I can't buy into it but what do I know??
Parcells...How about Spy???...Message seems cryptic!

You could become a bank robber.
Our cops are pretty inept..gif)

We need KRGDRK to come out here and school these nitwits.
I've always dreamed of being a banker. When I was young my father use to take me to the bank and he'd tell me that's gonna be you someday son.
you had a career ?.gif)
Thats not what I heard he caught...err, had.
Talk to Rockhead. Seriously, he is in the import business and can probably give you some helpful advice.
You could always become a man-whore.
You can doooooo it!
Well at least we know you have no future at being a racing driver. I'm also fairly sure anything to do with customer service would be a mistake, I can see how that would go " excuse me I seem to be having a problem with my internet connection is there any way you can help?" Parcells replies "I'm assuming your stupid so have you turned on your modem if so then I really don't give a shit, please call back when your IQ hits double digits and have a nice day." So the only advice I would give would be to try a government job I think you are more than qualified for that.
I was thinking Dept. of Transportation. That way he could kinda be around cars but not have to actually drive one.
This site has a lot of interesting answers to fairly open-ended questions like prospects for career change or the merits of different business approaches.

I don't know if it can give you advice on becoming a man-whore though, although I haven't checked.
Maybe Cotter will take you under his wing.
My non-smart ass advice would be to leverage your current experience in your field into something related. You get a fresh perspective on the career end plus you can leverage your current experience so you aren't coming in from the ground floor.
My smart ass advice is to choose anything that lets you refer to yourself in the third person and you'll be golden.
Importer, Exporter? As in Shop insurance sales person etc etc or an actual exporter importer?
How should I know, I heard it on Seinfeld many years ago.
I watch a lot of sports and regularly offer up interesting anectdotes about the games. I'd really like to be a color commentator but they probably give those jobs to ex-athletes no doubt.
Hey if you go into import / export give us a shout. That's what we do on a residential basis
I import Belgian cold pressed high antioxidant dark chocolate...mmm.
You should open a restaurant...
I hear the Yankees are looking for a new assistant to the GM... Just remember to always look busy.
What do you know about...soup?
Hey Parcells,
If you're considering architecture it's a big committment. It's 5-6 years of college + 3 years of internship + exams to actually be an architect in the US. That said you can work for architects and design firms much earlier but the profession has been hit very hard by the economy and I imagine it will be very competitive. But I think good people can excel in any market. Good luck on your search.
