The final fantasy thread
I guess we cant have a retro forum without a final fantasy thread so here goes!
Whats your favourite game in the series?
Favourite moments?
Is it still relevant?
Should they remake more of the older titles?
And since I've just finished 5 which should I play next 3 or 4?
Nice suggestion but I've already played through that one. 3 and 4 are the only ones I've never played. I have to admit I gave up on 1 and 2 - I just couldnt persevere with the random battles every 0.5 seconds.
I would say my favourites have been 5, 7 and 10.
I only played FF2 so Im going with that one
I'll be the odd duck & go with FF9.
A favorite moment was in FF1, poking fun at the Zelda series (reading a gravestone that says "Here Lies Link").
I think the series is still relevant, and I think there's a market for updating & re-releasing the previous games.
I enjoyed 9 buts its well down my list. I do love the theme tune "melodies of life" though. I never figured out what the creature with the forks was supposed to be. Was it even male or female?

I thought 9 was great but it was 7 that got me back into gaming after a short break. I still have to finish it though
My memories of the end of 7 are sitting in front of the screen for 40 minutes watching the Knights of the Round animation over again and again again.
I was just looking at IGN's Top 100 RPG's of All Time (which, oddly, only showed 100-41), and there were 6 Final Fantasy games within that cluster:
FF 8 = #97
FF 9 = #88
FF 1 = #73
FF Tactics Advance = #67
FF 10 = 64
I have to wonder what criteria was used in assigning this list. Speaking of, here's the link if you want to see what classic RPG's made it: http://www.ign.com/top/rpgs
After all I have gone back to play 8 again.
I cannot see how 1 could possibly rank above 8 and 9. Okay, it started the series but its very dated now and brought little to the genre that Dragon Quest hadnt already.
I haven't played 8 yet. I have it downloaded onto my PS3, so I'll get to it soon.
I played it through many years ago but thoughts this time round are...man, it starts slow.
