HBO has an online set up, HBO Go, on demand set up for subscribers ( had to log in with my cable provider name/pass, and all 40 episodes are sitting there to watch...I'm up to 16.
Still not seen it, until it hits network TV here, I'll just stick with the books...
In other news Top Gear is doomed, Clarky is sacked and the hints are the other two will leave. So I look forward to it returning to the boring show it was back in the day. It's a shame and I will miss it, it was out on it's own, nothing like it has been made before and we will not see the like again. Not just the three presenter that had an undeniable magic together, but the entire production team that gave it such a class look. The BBC have lost their biggest show ever, millions feel like they have lost an old friend. Rest in peace Top Gear, it was real.
Jeremy Clark is an idiot. Can't just go around punching people you don't agree with. I personally was not a fan of the show so no loss for me.
I have been wanting to watch Game of Thrones, but don't have HBO. I started to read the first book but just couldn't get into it really. Maybe I'll try again some day.
Well as I have said to others, if you don't watch the show, don't like it or the presenters I really don't care what is thought, I don't go around moaning about shows I don't watch and pissing on the chips of those that do. Seems this show brings that out in people. Hundreds of millions of fans world wide, nuff said.
Now as for the books...Yes the first does take some getting into, GRRM Jumps around between in time space and character every chapter, by the second you begin to get the hang of it...But I got to book four and then started again because so much had kinda passed me by, better experience the second time around, and the last book to date was the most accessible of the lot, a more coherent read for me.
Well, I'm only up to season 8 on netflix for Top Gear, but I'll watch what I can. I do like it. They won't be able to put the lightning back in the bottle. It's gone.
This Top Gear thing has really bummed me out, to a level I didn't expect and don't quite understand.
And the hypothetical guessing going on is quite wild. A few have wished for Rowan Atkinson (highly unlikely), Sabine Schmidt I find an entertaining idea but only IF they can retain the other two which is again highly unlikely. I think the give and take between them and her could be quite interesting, as well as perhaps a female perspective, not to mention the competitive aspects between them.
At the same time, I've heard whispers, and I mean merely whispers, of Clarkson and Netflix. Again, unlikely BUT oh my would that be interesting.
And I think the mixture/chemistry between the three stooges of Top Gear is irretrievably lost and this saddens me, I will also miss the absolutely beautiful photography and images that came out of Top Gear, and yes, I realize that may continue as the production crew will probably stay mostly intact (at least one executive producer has said he will not continue without Clarkson most likely they are seeking something moving forward together as they have been friends going waaay back), I fear the show won't survive this, at least for any length of time. I hope I'm wrong.
It truly pisses me off that this came about due to ego, and cold cuts...
Interesting write up in Bloomberg that basically stated the BBC should have forced a public apology, fined the piss outta him (because he's apologized before), and let the legal system deal with it. (legal fee's, incarceration, whatever).
He's an ass, he did wrong, and he needs to know it. But now an estimated 350 million viewers, and possibly the entire Top Gear monstrosity that's left, are suffering for one man's insufferable, enabled ego, and a producers inability to provide satisfactory food to a tired actor after a long day's shoot. (all offered without the benefit of actually being present, so, opinion)
I think Clarkson's just tired of it all anyway, and snapped. His contract was due, and he wants to either simply stop, or go elsewhere. He doesn't need the money.
I still haven't tried Game of Thrones. It feels like Banshee was only on a few weeks, and the season finale made me REALLY upset. Everything we watch is over or almost over, hockey season is almost over. Still waiting for season 2 of The Returned (the French one), the last season of Falling Skies, and Longmire on Netflix.
Second treatment was Tuesday and went pretty well!
While Clarky does have an ego...That is what puts most people in front of a camera, it's not what caused this. He has been on the edge for a while, the loss of his mother, constant physical pain (he needs two new hips) and the punishing schedule, four programs added to the series at a late stage. While it does not excuse the action, in a court of law the BBC would be found complicit I think. He was the one who reported the incident and as any amateur psychologist would say "cry for help" Maybe instead of adding four extra programs they should have supported their cash cow, given him time to rest, get the medical attention he needs and come back revitalized next season. Instead they milked every last drop. To mix my metaphors, can anyone say Golden Goose?
Talking of the BBC being complicit, lets look at that, every so called gaff that was aired passed editing, was deemed suitable for broadcast by the executive producers. At any point the BBC could have simply taken those gaffs out, but they chose to leave them in and air them. Top Gear is not a live show, it is pre recorded, so the choice was there to fix anything they wanted in the edit.
Top gear will continue I think, I suspect not with the remaining stooges (spot on with that analogy I have used it myself) It existed before them, it will probably carry on without. As a world wide phenomenon? Absolutely not, that was from left field, not planned, not expected. Lightning will not strike twice.
I've totally dressed inappopropriately for the destination of a flight before, and suffered until luggage recoverd. If there was a problem on the field it could be much worse i suppose.

Did the plane not get to the terminal?
The A320? was slightly broken apart at the end of a runway (collapsed landing gear, engines gone, wing pieces missing. Passengers ran from plane in holiday clothing and no footwear.
Only had one scary landing coming into Malta airport with strong cross winds, took three attempts and by the third after two close calls things were a little tense to say the least, most heartfelt round of applause on landing. But that trumps it and no mistake. Glad your okay.
In other news, still pondering the next car...I had thought we had settled on a new VW Tiguan, but I started wondering on the idea of buying new, while we love the idea of getting exactly what we want and having something that was built for us alone, I have always said in the past buying new is mad unless you want to throw money away. Why not let someone else take that depreciation hit and we but something almost new that otherwise we could not justify. So with that in mind I started looking at what would be in the proposed budget at a year or two old.
Enter into the fray Audi, BMW and Mercedes. Hmmm...Now I have always yearned after a good Audi, Mercedes are for the senile, BMW for Fleet drivers but Audi have soul and the Q5 leaped out at us, it has everything, looks are distinctive and commanding, performance from the superb Audi 2L Turbo Diesel is more than good enough with about a 7sec 0 to 60 and oodles of torque. The Quatro four wheel drive system is legendary and with three driving modes you get it all from wafting, to tight sporty handling. The interior is awash with leather, wood and tech. Stick on a set of winter tyres and my winter driving woes would be a thing of the past, and in the summer I could drive anywhere no matter how far in absolute comfort...So heading out next week for a test drive, and fully expect to be smitten :)
The Tig is still not out the running, it was a lovely car, and really well priced at around 18 months old but it would be nice to step up into the luxury bracket.

yeah, have practical covered, want something to make me smile...on this side of the Atlantic...wife has a Solara convertible and it's fun to ride in, but it handles like a brick...
Cost of motoring over here makes owing a car for fun an expensive option, pondering on a Trike for that, much as I would love to be back on two wheels, the roads around here are deadly, so a Trike is a fairly happy compromise. All depends on how much we end up spending on the car, if we go for the Audi then that is a chunk of cash and I will have to be content with that.
Been in rough weather but never had what I'd really call an incident. had a really rough flight into Pittsburgh once and the pilot either couldn't or wouldn't adjust altitude.
I think one of the worst flights I had was in a 8 seater Lear, damn tin can with rockets tied on the back. Flew outta Tennessee in the morning, less than an hour later I was in Toledo, had a mid day meeting and got on the same jet and flew home, all in an 8 hour day. Not nearly as glamorous as they make it out on T.V. I was sitting in the back seat talking to the pilot. BTW Lears run the 1/4 mile pretty damn quick.
okay, I may be around less...
found this series called Game of Thrones? ( )
Gotta watch something until Banshee starts back up and Walking Dead is almost done for the season...
when I'm not painting Ferrari's on the side...

That show is addictive for sure. Noticed a series of episodes on last night. Probably a run up to the new season.
Yes, first I saw of the series was episodes 8, 9 and 10. I'm hooked, going back and watching from the beginning.

Miss you guys and girls :(

There's 40 episodes of Game of Thrones in the can, season 5 starts sometime in April I think?
Church, you only miss us cause you ain't been about. We're still here...

I'd heard about the hips. mom and the fact that he had reported it himself. I hadn't heard about the added shows.
Totally agree with the editing statement but some of the issues weren't broadcast, at least half of them.
In the end, it's really sad all around. I do hope Clarkson puts something together on his own.
Another day, another day to shovel snow.
Also, bad landing at the airport. Passengers left standing in snow storm with shorts and no footwear for an hour. You can't make this stuff up.
I've totally dressed inappopropriately for the destination of a flight before, and suffered until luggage recoverd. If there was a problem on the field it could be much worse i suppose.
Did the plane not get to the terminal?
First you say it, then you do it.
BTW. I guess a controlled landing until impacting the ground is now called a hard landing.
I shouldn't make lite of it. It was quite serious and I hope none of the injured have life altering problems because of it.
Lol. What I meant was "Oh sh*t!"

I survived yet another big snow blowing event though.
Ha ha that does lose some of it's impact then..Traumatic as shoveling snow must have been :)
hey Knight, I'm starting to mull looking for a used Honda S2000 if I can find one not beat to death and yet resonable....( cue beautiful dreamer)...

I was once in a 25 seater that dropped 5,000 feet in what felt like 3 seconds...my sister and I were laughing hysterically...good times.

Trikes are way higher than a bike. Cheap trikes are cheap car territory, Harley Trikes are good car territory.
It's only 8 miles to work Knight, I could drive a Mack truck and it'd be ok.
