Not here, cheaper to run and insure and you can pick up a second hand VW based one handy enough. As for Harley they are hardly cheap or common here. It's okay for you, you have the Hog already so the sports car is your next thing, I don't have a Hog so though I would love one, self preservation (We lose a lot of bikers around here) comes into play. Why VW based? That comes down to the weird laws here, they are treated as three wheeled cars so are as cheap as chips to insure, bike based ones are treated the same as if they were still the two wheeled model and insurance is commensurably high. So I can add a VW Trike to my car insurance for next to nothing. So that is it in a nutshell, cheapest way to get back in the wind is a Trike, but like I say that still depends on how much I spend on the car :)
Built a few VW sand rails and seen my share of the VW trikes. I rather like 'em as long as they aren't too light up front. Cheap on gas too and easy to work on.
So I thought I would have a look over the border at cars...
Rip off Ireland...An oft used phrase so lets put some numbers on it, A year old car from just across the border costs £31,650 that is €43,790.44. Exchange rate is bad at the moment but that is not the fault of Ireland, But suppose that was still a reasonable price, suppose you thought okay I'll have that...Next move is to find out how much it will cost to bring it the half mile or so from north to south, here is where you cough up VRT (Vehicle Registration Tax) Wait for it...For this car it is...Drum roll please...€9,876!
There's all kinds'a political uglyness that could be spouted, but truth be told, I'd be more interested to hear Knight's point of view as he's over there living it.
Usually when it's that big a difference, there's too many hands in the middle.
We bought out first new car last year. Always bought used cars, around a year old with low mileage. LOVED my Dodge Avenger (I'm Mopar people). But it had a scary issue that hubby, with all of his car knowledge, couldn't fix. The Internet was awash in people with the same problem who had spent a ton at shops and dealerships to no avail. My local dealership laughed and said "there is no such problem." After the car shut off four times while I was driving on the busiest street in the city, and I almost got hit all four times, and I was only going two blocks away from home...I put my foot down and said "we're getting something else." I would've been okay with another used car, but hubby was pissy and insisted I buy a new one with a kickass warranty so he has to do no more than wash it and put gas in it.
Two days after we bought it he said he thinks he could've fixed the Dodge and he had buyers remorse. MEN. *yes I realize I'm talking to a group of men lol*
It WAS nice when the new car had that stupid TPMS issue, and I could just drive it to the dealer and say "please fix this" knowing there was no charge. And I get all my oil changes there. Hubby has always done everything on our vehicles and its kinda nice to get that done so he can work on his '40 chev or his Dad's '32 truck (forget what it is).
As for scary flights, I had a commuter flight in PA that almost made me pee my pants. Before take off, the pilots were talking in hushed but aggravated tones. Then one said loudly "I don't know! Hit it. I heard that works sometimes." Then the other one started hitting something on the "dashboard" and saying "come on you piece of crap!" Then we took off.
Wherever I'm traveling, I dress the same on the plane because I'm a panicker. Jeans, sneakers, tshirt, hoodie. It covers me for crashes (lol) in hot or cold weather. ;)
I always thought that Black Friday was the day after Thanksgiving but yesterday was by far the darkest day I have experienced in quite awhile.
I discovered in the afternoon that a group of friends, some of whom I have known for 20 years, turned into arrogant ass hats and left several other friends including me "hanging out to dry." That set the mood for the day. Last night I signed on to XBL hoping to raid in Destiny and getting this terrible thing off my mind. I got on later than I planned due to a screwed up dinner delivery order, so I was still a bit stressed and with a sour stomach to boot. I had earlier posted within my clan site my desire to raid in the evenings and was hoping to hook up with some clannies. When I signed on, one group was raiding, one clannie was in an lfg group with one spot not filled, and a couple of others were leveling up a second or third character. I messaged the one clannie in the lfg raid and he said that someone was supposed to join soon but he would let me know if that didn't happen. I tooled around for awhile and 20 minutes later that last spot was filled. I took him at his word and assumed that last spot was filled by the expected individual and gave no further thought to it.
I was ready to give up for the night when I noticed the clan raid had ended so I decided to hang out in orbit to see if another one would be put together. What I noticed was everyone frozen in place -- a couple in the tower, a couple in CE, and one in orbit. Normally when something is being put together the group starts with party invites, so that people in different parts of the game can chat and plan. Nothing came my way as I waited and I noticed that everyone was still frozen in place. I started to wonder at that, waited a few more minutes in orbit, then decided to shut down for a couple of minute to see what might happen. Sure enough, when I signed back on, the aforementioned people were in a raid, picking up a non-clannie as a 6th.
After what I learned during the day, to have this happen with people in the same clan was a little too much. Betrayal was just one of the emotions I felt. I have always been a laid back person, but unfortunately hold things in resulting in a slow burn over time. The events of yesterday resulted in somewhat of a volcanic explosion. I posted as much in the clan forum (in the lfg thread, suggesting that it be deleted because the effing thing doesn't work). The first draft would have probably landed me in court so I carefully editted the post -- while my ship languished in Destiny orbit.
While finishing up that post I noticed yet another raid had been put together, again with no invites coming my way.
Talk about a day! To make matters worse I was so worked up over this confluence of events in the real and gaming worlds I couldn't sleep and that really pissed me off.
I have been a loyal member of that group for almost 5 years but it may be a time for a change. Loyalty works both ways.
Before I buy I scour the user groups for possible issues, I also intend to buy a 3 year warranty for piece of mind. Took a drive out to our nearest Audi dealer, a three hour round trip, but a nice drive. There were Q5's a Q3 and a sprinkle of Tuguans so nice to compare them side by side. Quite taken by an A6 there too, but really I think I would regret a saloon even at the spec this one had. Still until I take all the contenders out on 24 hour test drives, I will keep an open mind, there are a couple of wild cards on the list too.
Just saw my first live Cardinal. Never knew they came to Nova Scotia.
Little red things? Aren't they awesome?
We have a few that nest in our drive.
A friend across town has some targe christmas tree looking piney type trees and I've seen 5, 6, 7 at a time in them in her front yard. Odd as I thought they were kinda solitary, just the two type of birds. maybe it was mating season or something?
Something else rare around here, have started seeing redwing blackbirds which I haven't seen since I was a child.
Sorry about your experience Achy, a note on that, because of my experience essentially being the same, I let our leadership in the clan know that I was done. I didn't say anything in the forums, I just let them know that my interests and theirs was different. But the truth is that I don't want to play Destiny with them because of how I was treated by them with raids, it hurt my feelings deeply. Especially when I tried to let them know how I felt and they just said I was a complainer. I am 100% loyal to my friends and when someone doesn't returnt he sentiment then it's over. I could only pretend so long before I couldn't stand it anymore. But I have Deep, and he is awesome! The people I have met on this site have been great and when 2o2p halo had regular halo nights it was fun, it just has not been the same since that ended.

Hey, hey hey, the "Insider Outsiders" just increased by 1 to 2. Look out gaming world. :)
My fingers are crossed for Halo 5 to facilitate a new community Halo night. In the mean time, the Over 50 gang still plays Halo 4/360 on Tues night. MCC repairs may change that. Drop in for a visit. We usually have a couple spots available.
Constant badgering if you are not playing with the clan.
Every member goes through vetting/testing. Except the originators, of course.
Boss monsters decide who gets kicked out. Minions chew at the lesser minions for impurities and continue even after they leave through the exit of shame.
It's fairly tribal in nature and the structure makes good people be less than they normally are.
I have authority issues...I would not subject myself to any of that nonsense. I think that's one of the reasons I like our racing group.
Randoms show up, we race on a random track with somewhat random cars, and someone randomly wins while we randomly joke about whatever random things are going on in life, on the track etc. This makes great use of a feature called a FRIENDS LIST. And you don't even need an invite, you just drop in...
When we aren't doing that we actually race in spec series with set cars and tracks/schedule and still randomly joke about whatever random things are going on in life, on the track etc.

Seems a bit steep...

HooBoy!
Saw The Rocky Horror Picture on Demand and couldn't resist.
I gotta say, it holds up quite well...followed that up with a stand up performance by Mel Brooks....a fun time.

That was a sucky day OldnAchy and no mistake.
Ew, that's a bad day Achy. Sorry to hear about it.
Just saw my first live Cardinal. Never knew they came to Nova Scotia.

I have a pair that hang out in a tree just off my balconey. I see them most every morning. If I can ever get off my lazy butt I will take a picture.

Dear gaming gods,
Please let Halo 5 at least function, so that I can game with my friends again.
Sincerely,
Kit
Love you Achy and Free xoxo
Insider Outsiders is a good name for a clan...
Anyhow, it was an inside joke for outsiders like me. I have no plans to start a Clan.
Activity group, maybe.
I think that pretty much sums up everyone here.
That's definitely a pretty shitty day Achy. If that wouldn't give you a fuck the world attitude, I don't know what would.
Senior Yoga In the Park would probably be it.
Sorry, Senior sleeping in the park.
Tai Chi, one with the umm, oneness of being, err, one. ( slow motion exercise)
I thought that's what Deep calls getting out of bed in the morning.
Activity group? Please define.
The site wide Halo night was a specific activity group without a need for a name.
So rather than have a clan hierarchy with rules, an activity type is defined and slotted and people show up or not. Some will be hits and some won't.
Sounds more like an activity night.
Clan hierarchy, rules? Was ist das hier?
Post daily, weekly, monthly rules.
No outsiders at clan games.
Constant badgering if you are not playing with the clan.

I am not innocent. I was party to most of it.
