New PC on the way
Well after thinking about it, looking up parts, thinking about it some more I finally broke down and am going to build a new pc. I'm enjoying Project Cars and looking forward to F1 2015 next month.
So on order is the following:
i5 4690k
Asus Z97-A motherboard
EVGA GTX 970
16 gb of Corsair Vengeance ramm.
And a new Corsair case, powersupply and H80i. I already have an SSD and 3 TB harddrive to transfer from my old build. Of course my son who has now become a pc gamer himself has already asked if he is getting my old pc. I think someone is going to be doing some of dad's dirty work this summer
excellent !
**Updated**
Okay so after taking a night off from working on this thing and doing some drinking I think I finally found the issue. I returned the ssd and bought a regular HDD. Powered up and was able to get windows installed. I had to stop since it was getting late but I think my issues have been resolved. Not sure why the motherboard was not seeing the SSD to start with but hopefully everything works tonight and I can start seeing what some games look like on this thing.
Strange it would not see the SSD, going to be upgrading to one myself when Windows 10 lands, hope it just does the plug and play thing, then I intend to duel boot for a while while I test how it works with my sims. Should be fine. but well...it's a PC he he.
That looks a nice setup, I am getting left behind in the graphics card race still using my old 670, but it works so happy to wait a while before I upgrade.
Yea I don't know what was going on. I have found a bunch of people posting about the Asus boards not seeing SSD's initially. I'm wondering if there is a driver/software item that has to be loaded after windows is installed.
Anyways if I can atleast get the HDD to work and get it up and running I will be happy with that.
Yeah I guess that is probebly a likely explanation, have you tried ugrading the BIOS?
Looks like an awesome set up. I have an Asus motherboard and it sees the SSD just fine. Did you try changing connections? It could be that one of the SATA ports, or possibly the cable itself, is bad.
Otherwise, once you get up and running you will love that rig. I have a 4 GB 970 GPU and it rocks. Its a nice upgrade over my 2 1/2 year old 4 GB 670.
