Project Cars 2 announced. Really?
Isn't it a little too soon for them to be announcing a sequel?

How many years till it comes out?
I do not think its too soon. It is quite common for studios to have part of their team working on the new game, while another part of the team is still updating the current game. A good example is Gran Turismo. Part of PD is updating Gran Turismo 6, part of the team is making Gran Turismo 7. The only difference here is that SMS is being more transparent about the process.
I have both the PC and Xbox One versions of Project CARS. IMO, with the patches that have been released, coupled with the new firmware for the TX wheel, both versions of the game are "done", with only a few minor tweaks still needed. Patch 1.5 is in the works and is supposed to include a 10-15% performance increase in FPS on the Xbox One.
It'll be a race between PC2 and GT7.

It's not the development process I'm questioning. I get why SMS needs to get funding started as early as possible, but IMHO given the rocky launch of Project Cars it would make more sense to fix bulk of the issues PCars first and let the the seas calm a bit before announcing crowdfunding for the sequel.
Perception-wise they begin to look like a large game developer trying to empty your wallet which may make it harder to entice new investors/contributers.
Have the patches fixed the controller issues on XBox One?
I had hoped that GT7 would be revealed at E3, but I was not surprised that Sony said nothing about it. Yes, I am still enjoying GT6 and playing it almost every day, and I do appreciate that PD is doing weekly updates to GT6, but it would be nice to get a next generation GT sooner rather than later. Lets face facts, the earliest GT7 will come out is the Fall or Winter of 2016. By that time, there likely will be 4 Forza games released on the Xbox One (Forza 5, Forza 6, Forza Horizon 2 and Forza Horizon 3). PD is so far behind, I do not see how they can ever catch up.
Pcars 2 was announced due to the success of pcars 1 and all develpement is going towards pcars to fix the current issues. Pcars 2 depends on all the major bugs being sorted as it will be using the same software engine with added code, tech and features that didnt make it into pcars 1 but had the ground works laid.
the sales from pcars 1 will allow for much more licenses aswell to be added. Personally I would have just like to see a addon pack instead of another title, but with technology changing so fast these days who knows what will be available in 4 yrs time which could conflict with current tech.
If your sights arent looking down the road at your next project you have no future in the industry, the bottom line is all the developers in video games are here to make money as its a billion dollar industry.
From what ive read the controller issues are fixed, I tested it on pc with a xbox1 controller and it felt much better more rumbling and pulseating triggers while being much easier to controll than before.

Agreed. The FFB is now amazing.
I have very mixed feelings about the game right now. IMHO, the game seems to be focused around career mode and time trials than anything else. The multiplayer lobbies are crap for organized events. I have tried for two weeks now to run my WRRC event with 14 people in the room and have yet to complete a race. Lobby crashes, people stuck in bumper view, people cant get in. lack of seeing the previous race results (except for 15 seconds immediately after the race), cant invert grids based on race results and a few other oddities. I don't play these for solo modes. I prefer to race against real drivers and not the crash fest of public lobbies. Unless this gets sorted in the next update or two, I will be shelving the game and going back to gt6.
Sad because it has so much potential. The FFB (now that I have found a good combination of settings after nearly 5 hours of tweeking), sounds, track options, car selection and graphics have exceed my expectations. I just wish I could enjoy it with others.
For me, I give it a 4 out of 10 and because of that, I will hold off on investing in pCARS2
Unfortunately I am not surprised that the multiplayer in Project CARS sucks. The only sim that I have played that has solid, reliable multiplayer is iRacing. I have done over 2000 online official races and over 100 hosted sessions in iRacing, and I can count on one hand the number of times I got "booted" from a race and/or had some other technical issue that affected my completion of the race. Everything other sim I have tried going back to 2009, including Forza 3, Forza 4, Forza 5, GT5, GT6, rFactor 1, rFactor 2, Assetto Corsa, etc. has has significant problems, some more than others, and so I have no faith that is going to change. I am hoping that the multiplayer in Forza 6 is solid enough for me to again race with 2Old4Forza members, but I am not holding my breath.
The MP in PCars sucks? Then what t happened here?:
