Forza 6 unlocked for me this morning at 6:01am PST. I had pre-ordered the digital ultimate edition. I thought it had already downloaded and installed but when I hit the Forza 6 icon at approximately 6:03am PST it started installing. The 1% came after 2-3 minuites, 2% came a few minutes later and I was thinking, "darn, I got up early for this." Fortunately, I got the "ready to play" message at 10% and so away I went. I am using a Thrustmaster TX wheel, with T500RS pedals and a Thrustmaster TH8A H shifter.
The game starts with the Ford GT race at Rio that is featured in the demo. All assists are turned on and so the car is beyond belief easy to drive. You literally just have to steer. Once I finished that race, I got my reward cars for Forza Rewards and the credits. At that point, I did the three race qualifying, like in the demo, using the Subaru. The third race is at COTA in the sun, whereas the third race in the demo was in the rain at Sebring. At that point, the game opens up and you start with the first leg of the career. I chose the BMW 2002 car in a 1970s classics series of races. The career mode has a ton more content than Forza 5 and it seems to have far more variety. The main events are the different "volumes" which start with slower cars in Volume 1 and advance to the fastest cars, F1 for example, by the time you hit Volume 5. In addition, there are many showcase events. When you move up a level you no longer get credits, rather you get to do a spin which can net you lots of credits, a small amount of credits or a car, some modest, some extravagant. The AI seems to be less reckless than the AI in Forza 5.
The graphics are excellent, definitely the best of any racing game on the Xbox One, but some of the tracks, Indy for example, still have too much aliasing. The FFB and physics are improved over Forza 5, the cars feel more alive. The sound is awesome as usual.
I have just scratched the surface. This is a huge release, I see myself playing this for a very long time.
Wondering about voice chat on XOne when using a wheel???...I can't hook the headset to my wheel but can I just turn on the controller. plug the headset into the controller for chat while still using my wheel as primary controller #1?
If I'm going to join Gizzie's casual Sunday afternoon session I want Fitzy to hear how he's disappointed me over the years so would like to get this figured out.

Yes. If the gamepad is wireless it will turn itself off after a period of inactivity so you have to bump a stick occasionally to keep it alive.
thinking out loud...seriosuly considering using cockpit view as I return to the FM series. The few Horizon and FM6 cars I've tested so far look great and every car so far has had a decent mirror (my MAIN concern) and it's just more immersive, to hell if I lose any overall pace which should come back quickly once I get used to it.
oh and BTW if you see my drivatar driving recklessy blame MS and not Parcells as they put me in an almost impossible position to get into the top three of a short race and they stick me near the back of the grid. I just don't have the time to make all clean passes so I've been "forcing the issue" and suffice it to say from any realistic perspective the only conclusion you can come to is "Parcells is a menace on the track", I'm not happy about it.
forewarned, more useless commentary within, Parcells is high and scheming.
Granted I've only raced the first race of the initial 3 race qualifier but from what I've read and seen it seems unlikely that "grinding for credits" will be a concern in the slightest with FM6 and that makes Parcells very very happy. Regardless, I just spent 30-40 minutes firing up FM3 & FM4 and purchased roughly 60 cars between the 2 games to top up both garages over the 200 barrier for the FM6 1 million credits reward bonus.
That's some sweet action and if ever needed it's a simple effort to acquire 300+ in each game for the 5 mill FM6 bonus for each game. My practice of never selling any game I've ever bought is starting to pay off in spades (not the racial type ). Figured out the timing of the risk proof 5 X A button presses required to purchase one car in each game so I could watch some of the Djokovic beatdown on TV while mindlessly purchasing cars in either game that I paid zero attention to, how anal is that?
By pure chance the first car that came up in FM3 (which was crucial to my blind A button presses while watching tennis) costs 10,000 credits but had over 5 mill in FM3 so no worries there getting to 300+ and in FM4 the first car costs costs 35,000 credits but had 35+ mill in FM4 so again no worries if Parcells is ever in need of FM6 credits I should be good.
Hmmmm, I wonder if that means I'll be able to play at 9:01 pm on the West Coast or if I'll need to wait until 12:01 local time?

More to come.
off topic but not worth an entire new thread....
