Raid 101 for low light levels this Friday, Oct 16?

How about if we try to plan a raid open to all light levels just up to the Warpriest this Friday, Oct 16? The absolute minimum you would get is to learn the mechanics of opening the initial portal, and give it several tries. If we get it open, which is not at all unlikely, we can then start learning the jumping puzzle. And if we get past that, we can practice the mechanics of opening the door to the Warpriest. That's more than enough for a first run. This would be a learning experience, and you shouldn't expect any interesting loot.

Who would be interested? And what are your time constraints? I'm an early to early guy myself, so my brain turns into a pumpkin by 10pm Pacific (1am Eastern). So I will initially propose that we start at 6pm Pacific (9pm Eastern). We'll adjust the time from there.

I would be 100% up for doing something like this - especially since I don't seen to have a regular Raid group, it would be nice if we could build a group.

I've learned the basic mechanics and have made it to Oryx, but still no luck with a kill. I'm still very new to the raid though and would like to start running my alts through as well.

I think I have you on my Friends List, but I'm not 100% sure. Remind me - what is your GT?

I'd be up for this as well, since I haven't even tried this raid yet.

Same here.  No regular group but I have made it thru the War Priest.  The jump puzzle is a pain -- definitely needs practice to get it down.

I can't find tribescribe on xbox. Oh yeah, I'm on xbox. Seems I missed some highly relevant details! Sorry about that. The rest of you are on my friend list.

Opening the initial portal is relatively easy once you learn the mechanics - a couple of practice runs and the fireteam will get that done. After that... well...

I'd like to try to join you all on Friday and see how far we can get. 9 Eastern would work.

The jumping puzzles are all a pain, especially the Wall of D!cks. If you haven't been there yet you'll see what I mean when you try it.

I can probably be ok at that time.  I have to specifically ask my wife though, so please confirm start time if it is going forward.  I will bow out for newer players if you have a full group.

Thorn, would be great to have you. It looks like we'll have a group at 6pm Pacific (9pm Eastern), so no plans to change at this point.

I would like to participate, but what is low light level?  My warlock is 270.  Is that too low?  Friday 9 eastern until we're done works for me.

I think that 270 is not too low for the very beginning of the raid, which is what I am describing above. Speaking old guy to old guy, the hardest challenge we will face will be the jumping puzzle. That thing kills me, literally, and I've been through it a dozen times and on all classes. You probably want to have an item that grants extra agility in your inventory and handy for use. A year 1 item like the MIDA Multi-Tool or Icebreaker is just fine for this purpose.

On Friday at 6pm Pacific/9pm Eastern sharp, I will start inviting people to join in the order they expressed interest. One thing for sure, low light is better than an empty slot. So if you don't mind, I will include you on my list, Hammer.

270 would be tough sledding and you would probably not have much fun. I think Achy did parts of it last week in the mid-280s, perhaps he can say how it went of him.

With the weapons I had, I was bouncing between 285 and 287 as best I can remember (Warlock).  As I remember we got thru the first ultra (War Priest?).  Once I knew the tactics  the run was not overwhelming for me.  I was able to drop the barriers in the first part and take out the adds without too much trouble and helped with team shooting on majors.  I do think a light level below 280 could be problematic but not impossible to get to the first ultra.

I definitely agree on the agility perk for the jump puzzle, especially for Hunters.  That was a real pain -- but hysterically funny; I think I set a record for saying "Oh sh*t".  Seems to be a real zigzag pattern -- in 3 dimensions.  Even knowing the pattern (which I didn't) it takes good jumping to get across.

I am definitely up for this.

289 as of this morning.  Armsday finally brought my Heavy weapon up to the rest of my light and a subsequent, carefully managed engram cash in, followed by a haul of bounty completions and faction packages boosted me over 15 light points!  I'm ready for Friday night!

My Warlock's light level is 297 but my personal light level (for jumping puzzles) is about 170.  If I'm online and you still need extra players please send an invite my way.  XB1 GT is the same as my username.  I don't have a regular raid group but have been practicing jumping accuracy while doing patrol missions.  Tried the raid only once before and felt like dead weight for my team because I kept getting hung up on the jumps.

I should be available from 9-11 Eastern. The only experience I have with this Raid is fooling around the front door.

Anyone looking to get going in the raids, feel free to add Zikan to your friends list.  I haven't gotten very far in this one yet, but I'm usually pretty good at figuring these things out and I don't diie too much, which can be handy :)

After Action Report:

Darth Tabasco, BKVic, Old n Achy, BLAMnation, Hammerdrake, Ver7igo and myself participated. After a fierce battle that left three of us lying dead, the Warpriest finally deemed us worthy. About half of us only got shards, but the lucky ones got the raid fusion rifle and/or a ghost shell.

This was a really fun group to raid with, and I would definitely like to do it again. It would be great if someone would organize another raid for next Friday. I was planning to do it myself, but just remembered that hard mode releases that day, and I'll want to try to check that our if I can.

Edit: Changed my mind. That was too good to risk losing momentum. Please post in the new forum thread if you'd like to go along next Friday.

The Leftovers group started a little later and when I departed we had just finished getting some of us through the Tomb ship shield doors. Haven't heard what happened after that. DEEP NNN, GIJOE56, VAUHT VOKUREE, DOORGUNNERJGS, VIRTUOUS CRAB and OTTOTONE.

The really fun thing was, none of us knew anything about this Raid. We did it from scratch learning as we went. Started with 3 and finally had 6. I bullied everyone around, which I always worry about, but no one seemed to lose their cool.

I had a great time and midnight always comes too soon.

Pretty cool, Deep! We saw that you guys were running. Glad it went well. I have no idea how hard it is to figure stuff out from scratch, but I imagine it's pretty hard!

I'll be on and ready to roll around 10:00 Eastern if anyone is up for trying the raid.  We can start from scratch, or I think I have a save in the room right before the Warpriest.
