i think ive played betas with more maps
im having fun playing the game i really like it but lack of maps is disappointing. warzone defiantly needs more maps. some of these games last 30mins. thats like playing the same map 3 times. i swear i played the same map the other night for like 2 hours straight. i feel like slayer only has 3 maps. i know there is more but i can only think of three and some of the slayer maps are only playable in team arena.
aside from warzone most of these game types are not new. the only thing new and fresh are a few new combat abiities and the MAPS. the maps might be the most important part to keeping the attention of gamers. i logged on last night and right after the first game started and i didnt even want to play cause im already tired of playing the same maps over and over.
this whole map pack thing is getting old just sell the game for 100 bucks and give me all the maps. then release more maps. im getting wore out to fast from the lack of maps in games and adding a couple maps every few months doesnt help
I have to agree. I played for about 2 hours last night and felt like i was on the same 2 maps over and over again. There were certainly a few more in the mix, but because there are so little it got boring really fast. Pretty disapointing.
That, BTB, associated maps and Forge coming late, this game is going to take a broad based community hit.
It might be able to recover from these missteps and I hope it does.
i dont know deep. thats a long wait with so many titles dropping between now and then. they really fucked up with mcc and now they have released another game that isnt finished. they are just shooting themselves in the foot. ive already noticed a drop off of players in h5 on my friends list. even when they do drop btb and forge i have no faith that it will work.
There's been some speculation that they're limiting the number of playlists due to the lower player population. I recall some H4 playlists being ghost towns by the time I checked it out. I'm surprised BTB wasn't included at launch given its popularity in the past. Maybe they were afraid players would pass on warzone if it was?
I'm obviously very happy with the game so far, but am also worried about how some launch choices will effect Halo's popularity and momentum. I'm hoping that 343 does their part in supporting the game too.
i dont have an issue with the playlist. i have an issue with the amount of maps in the playlists.i dont know the official word about btb but if i had to make a guess from what ive seen from 343 id say btb is broken and still need s alot of work to be playable. my guess is even by the time they release btb it probably still wont work.
yeah if they said there is nothing wrong with btb im not sure i would believe them. put it in the game and show me it works
Well I did pre-order Battlefront today so....
I think the problem is many maps are only for certain playlists. Plus factor in the Breakout maps and Warzone maps. There are a lot of maps but only if you play every single gametype.
Yeah, this. I dabbled in some customs last night and was surprised at how many maps were out there that I hadn't seen yet. The spawns on some of them in SWAT seemed a little odd, but for the most part, there's a lot of variety under the hood.
I've been happy with the variety of maps and gametypes in the Arena playlist so far. I'm actually kind of impressed by how many solid gametypes there seem to be right out of the box.
Personally I think 343's goal for this release is to establish Halo as a major "eSport". The Halo World Championships prize money is already up to $1.5 million. For it to be relatable, the pros and casual players alike need to be playing the same version of the game (Arena I believe). I wouldn't be surprised if they're trying to herd people into Arena atm.
The game definitely comes across as a "lite" version or preview of the full release. So much is missing, and not just maps and playlists. For example, you can't check your medals in the carnage report. You can't see what people in your friends list are doing in Halo 5 in game, if they're in a party, campaign or multiplayer, anything. Spartan companies aren't in game at all. You can't see what energy level items take unless you're in a match of warzone. Carnage report no longer lists your tool of destruction, who killed you the most and who you killed the most. There's more - UI glitches like XP boosts seeming to stick around when they aren't actually there anymore, inability to back out of matchmaking before it even finds any other players. When you die, the camera rotates 180 degrees for some dumb reason, instead of pointing to where your killer is and letting you rotate the camera (like in Halo 3). Nope, just turn away from anything you want to see. Plus there are gameplay problems - SWAT spawns are horrible, respawning in the exact place you just shot to be killed again instantly. There are 3 different aiming problems right now - a dead zone where moving the stick doesn't seem to do much, diagonal aim speed is much slower than moving straight up or straight down, and a post-beta decision of incompetence where after an arbitrarily chosen amount of stick tilt the game switches you from "aim" mode to "turn" mode, including a massive jump in look speed. Here is a video showing the horrible aim acceleration 343 added for no reason https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UmGc_rpjGzo The lack of forge, the incredible dearth of playlists and gametypes, the campaign story, the missing UI staples of Halo games etc all left me thinking, repeatedly "that's it?" But hey, at least 343 is letting you vote on Waypoint for a choice of just one of 3 gametypes to be added for a single weekend. I mean, that's almost as good as doubling the playlist variety permanently. I think their worry that they won't have enough players for more than a handful of playlists at launch on arguably the biggest Xbox One exclusive game launch so far is complete bullshit. Their product wasn't ready. So I'm waiting until December where we'll be closer to the full version of Halo 5.
this about sums it all up
Honestly to me this is encouraging LOL
Yep.
After the abominations that Bungie and 343 released with Reach, H4, and MCC, the fact that it works and is balanced is good enough for me right now. It's a little disappointing with some of these problems, but knowing that if I win or lose a 1v1 battle, I can reliably say that person was better/worse than me rather than attribute the outcome to bloom (Reach), a random weapon (H4), or connection issues (MCC).
And starting today, they added current maps that were missing from playlists and removed Orion to fix the many exploits on it. Shotty/snipes also begins today. https://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/community/blog-posts/weekend-playlist...

This. And it's a lot of fucking fun to play, which is why I play video games in the first place. Maybe I've just been lucky to always be in a large group of friends who are so much fun to play with, I haven't had anything to complain about other than having to wait for BTB so we can shoot at other people instead of each other.
Still no complaints; I think this is because I don't play at a high enough level for most stuff to be of an issue.
I had really hoped to not 'wait' for stuff with this Halo title. I'm not much of a Halo fan anymore and the only thing that gets me going are Tues nights with old friends. I'm still in the "I hate Halo mode" from MCC and it hurts my enjoyment of playing with friends.
I can see me dropping Halo if customs full chat doesn't get fixed, BTB customs don't work or Forge not being the nirvana I'd hoped for.
Halo has always been a long term game for me. It can't be a pain in the ass week after week.
This update should help the monotony. I think it's funny that one of the problems on Orion was that people kept getting banned for trying to grab the power up in the air and suiciding. I voted shotty snipes just so I could get commendations for those weapons easily.
No talkie, no funnie. :(
They added Truth, Empire, and Pegasus to slayer starting today. As far as chat goes, lobby chat works until a certain threshold is reached (have we definitely determined what it is?) then no one can hear each other. However, once the game starts up, I've always been able to talk to my team just fine. It's the lobby chat that needs fixing/increased.
Still need to experiment with that. Probably 12 which is the current XBL party limit, but no confirmation on that. Now people are creating XBL parties up to 12 for customs. Probably makes it easier set up and get into a lobby. Hopefully the lobby system will get stronger over time. Disappointing now.
