King's Fall Raid, Fri, Dec 18
Sign up here for the King's Fall (normal) raid on Friday, Dec 18 at 9pm Eastern/6pm Pacific. We usually run for about three hours more or less. To participate, you should have a light level above 290 (we have been typically getting to the Sisters or Oryx these days, and my guess is that you want to be in the 290s to be reasonably comfortable in those demanding fights) and a good sniper rifle (the 1000 Yard Stare from the vanguard vendor works very well). If you are one of the first five posters, we will be counting on you next Friday. If you need to change plans, we understand, but post here again as soon as possible so we can find a replacement. If there are already five participants, please consider signing up as an alternate. Stuff happens, even at the last minute

Alternate -- 9PM is just a tad earlier than I like to start on Fridays. But if no 6th guardian volunteers by Friday morning (Dec 18), send an Xbox Live message to Deciduous Duke and I will be there at 9.

Cleared the challenge on hard last night (as the lowest light guy on the team). I think going for our first team Oryx normal kill "the challenge mode way" is feasible, particularly if we start right at Oryx (from a checkpoint one of us gets in advance). How do you guys feel about starting at Oryx versus starting fresh?

I would love an Oryx checkpoint. The main thing holding me back are my lack or 300+ raid weapons, so I would be fine starting at Oryx (or the Daughters).
We can always go back and start a fresh raid later if we have time.

No complaints here. I ran him and the sisters Saturday with randoms and got shit!!! Even with moldering shards. I made out better on the Ogre.
Ok. Sounds like if one of us gets a checkpoint, the group could make use of it. Can't promise anything, of course, but I'll look into it.
Mixed blessing. For some of us, this is the only raiding we do and the more repetitions from start to end the better. I have seen definite improvement over time by myself and other new players to the raid. If we get a checkpoint at Golgy or later, I say go for the challenge, then restart from the beginning and run back thru -- for experience -- to that point. Otherwise, just start from the beginning.
Ok, I have the Oryx checkpoint. We'll do the challenge first, and after we knock out Oryx with one punch, we can do whatever.

Awesome Krak - that's good news! Let's hope we knock out Oryx quicker than last week's challenge with Golgy!
In the end, we beat the challenge, so that's all that matters!
If we can take out Orxy and complete the challenge mode, this should really help us with gearing up for Hard Mode.
I'm probably going to have to drop. Been under the weather this week and don't know how much I'm going to be up for talking, let alone staying up until 1am.
Since we'll start the challenge first, my hope is that we'll get it out of the way quickly. But we'll have to see. Anyhow, hope you feel better soon!
Sorry to hear about that Soul, but try to give it a go. We should know pretty quick whether it will be a breeze or a grind.
Oryx is dead! We did it! And completed the challenge to boot. OldnAchy, BKVic, DarthTabasco, x77x, Duke12, and myself played. We started from the Oryx checkpoint, with Darth running the relic. This was the first Oryx kill for several of us. Congratulations, guys! The plan is to take next week off, as next Friday is Christmas Day, and resume the week after.
Lots of fun as well as a learning experience! Hard to believe we got the Oryx challenge faster than the Golgy challenge.

Thanks for getting the checkpoint for us. That was only my second Oryx kill, but overall I think the 16-orb challenge is actually easier in some ways.
Now we just need to put together a full raid clear in one night. Then it's on to Hard Mode!
I agree. A full raid would be great. We have come a long way from the first run together.
Enjoyed working with this good team! Looking forward to doing the full Raid! So far I've done only up to the beginning of the Basilica and briefly seen the first part of the War Priest.
