Despite what the 2.4.0 weapon tuning update said, hand cannons got a 5-6% upgrade in damage. I tested a bunch of guns using the Ultra Knight on the Dreadnaught before and after. For example, the highest damage hand cannon, the First Curse, went from a 1957 crit damage to 2077. Every other hand cannon I tested went up by about the same percentage.

By the way, the Ultra Knight allows you to actually see the falloff range for a particular weapon. Most hand cannons don't deliver full impact till you're about halfway between the doorway and the Ultra Knight. From the doorway, its about half damage.

Perhaps we'll get some kind of special "event" like Bungie did with the Swords of Crota and Prowling Wolves prior to their respective content drops. I think it would be cool to see some Devil Splicers in the patrol areas.

Hello fellow players!

I haven't really been very active on 2old2play or with Destiny in awhile but had a few questions. I quit right around or before the release of Dark Below but I was wondering if this game is something I should get back into? I really liked the PvE focus on of this game along with the raids. My questions stem from some of my former issues with the game so I'm hoping some of you that have played it before could let me know what things are looking like now!

1. Is it too late to this game, i.e. I will have to grind my bones off to finally get to endgame?

2. Do the classes feel different now? Before, it didn't seem much like it mattered if you chose a Warlock, Hunter or Warrior.

3. Is the story telling or lore better or at least more coherent?

4. Do the guns still feel AWESOME when shooting at mobs?

5. Is there enough content now that it doesn't feel so much like you're doing the same thing over and over?

6. What is the cheapest option to get back into this game? Would it be the $60 collection version of the game? I don't think I originally bought any of the expansion packs anyways.

Yo Mooch, it's been a while. Good to see you back.

I'll try to help you out with info as best I can, so here it goes:

1) Too late to start again? Not really, but you have been gone for a long time and missed a lot of content and updates. You will obviously be limited in gear choice, but Bungie usually provides one-time-use buffs to allow lower level characters to be brought up close to current level. I'm not 100% sure this will happen with Rise of Iron, but I know it was available for previous expansions. You will have to grind a fair amount to get your Light level up and get some decent gear, especially with many of us moving on to the new content next week.

2) If you are not aware, each class now has 3 Subclasses, instead of the two that originally launched with the game. The class you play will not necessarily determine success of an encounter, but in certain instances really help the group. Defender Titans and Nightstalker Hunters (new Hunter subclass) are the preferred support classes. The Sunsinger Warlock can also function as a good support class, but most people do not utilize it to it's true strengths. Overall, I would say play what you like and we can usually fill in the gaps if needed.

3) When The Taken King launched we finally got a real taste of story for Destiny with some very nice cinematics and more quests. I would say this is where Destiny has certainly made some of its best strides - especially compared to what little you've seen.

4) It's a Bungie game...of course the gunplay is still awesome!

5) Yes and No. You will have a LOT of content to sift through - two Raids and Prison of Elders, plus a number of new missions/quests with some that lead to new exotics. Now, there will not be a lot of variation because it's still a shooter, but you'll have a lot to do.

6) I suppose the best version will be the one that lets you get ALL of the content along with the newest content coming next week - Rise of Iron.

Overall, you'll obviously have some work to get caught up, but once you get to current levels we'll be able to help you gear up. We have a decent size group of regular Destiny players, so we should be able to get you up to par.

1. never to late and you are joining at an new chapter that is very exciting from all the videos and leaks that have appeared so far

2. i would say so the classes I feel you can actually pick depending on your play style. If you like smashing stuff and running head first into everything go with Titan. If you like sitting back being stealth and causing mayhem from afar go for a hunter if you like a mix of both go for the warlock

3. story telling is a million times better and rise of iron is a whole new story we are going into again see above it just looks AWESOME

4. gjallerhorn ...... that is all

5. so much content raids patrols strikes court of oryx challenge of the elders and a lot of stuff I can't name right now but I'm sure someone will help :)

6. yes go for the collection for $60 this will give you everything from day one and bring you right up to rise of iron. You will get an item with this purchase that will allow you to instantly raise your characters level to around 35 light ( this is a guess ) but it will allow you to jump straight into the rise of iron stuff if you want to then you Cato back and do the older content at your leisure. You will of corse have to rank your characters type. If you choose warlock for example you have a new class called storm caller. Basically you turn into earth sidious and destroy everyone with lightening but doing this won't feel like a grind it can be done through general game play. I will say there is loads I have missed out but this is the general idea of what is going on. Hope it helps even just a little !!

You guys are hilarious! I ended up purchasing the Collection edition because it wasn't any more expensive than getting TTK and then RoI later but this way I at least have a level 40 character boost.

My question is whether I should use the character boost or just level up the old fashioned way? Also, is their a particular class that is more effective in PvE content? I used to play a Sunsinger Warlock and they seemed decent but nothing special for PvE raids.

Also, I hopefully am assuming correctly in that you all play on Xbox One, right?

Correct the main group who play all seem to be on xbox,  My Gamertag is aadamtoremember.

I play as a warlock and nothing else, then i switch between the classes depending on what the event calls for. I also do just fine in raids but i do understand for super damage i offer very little.

I would recommend using the boost because it just brings your character level up and nothing else, the rest is the grind to increase light level and obtain better gear.

Your best bet is to watch some youtube videos showing the new rise of iron stuff there are tonnes out there basically pick your favorite youtuber. mynameisbyf Mrfruit moreconsole destinyfollower are a few you can look up. They can put into words a lot of the info you are looking for.  I wont lie you have missed out on some massive changes over the last year + and there is even more to come it is definitely not the destiny you remember at least. You could even go back and look at the taken king videos that tells you all about the 3 new sub classes for each character titan warlock and hunter.

Deep, I have to ask.  How many engrams did you end up with before RoI?  I was trying to catch up, got up to 98.  Burned 5 to get a trespasser, and as my fireteam last night can tell you, I may have had a contacting destiny servers accident and decrypted 1 (or more) to lag while decrpyting blues.  Final count 89.  I'm ready to have my vault and the pack mule's (aka hunter character) inventory space back!

Never decoded any since last report. I think I added 1 or 2 more.

I'm waiting until finishing the story etc before decoding exotics. Blues are still giving me light.

Rolled the dice last night before leaving the Tower and my first two exotic engrams dropped a 341 Nemesis Star and a 341 MIDA. I decided to stop while I was ahead...

With ROI you get a spark of light which will immediately boost your character to LL 40.  Don't know if this is one per character or one per account.

Sure hope they will let us delete that spark if we don't need it. I still have a spark left over from the last time that I haven't been able to get rid of - it's just taking up an inventory slot.

Nope.  Tried today but can't get rid of it.  Just says I need a character below level 40 to use it.  Crap.

Got both my hunter and titan to level 40 but both only have around 220-240 light level so I'm currently researching things I can do solo to get my light level up to where it needs to be to do the current content.

I'm struggling with what I should do--that is soloable or through matchmaking--in order to get a highler light level. I'm guessing to continue to do bounties and participate in strikes? Can I do a strike playlist at my light level?

TC, from what I was reading of the latest update, you can still do normal strikes.  They are supposed to reward up to 340 light now with RoI.

Level 41 Prison of Elders is recommended light level 260, its minimum light is 220, so you can start to do that as well.

Both of those have match making, so hopefully someone else will be playing them still.

Otherwise, I'd likely do bounties, work on vanguard and faction rep to get bounties (sell motes of light, etc to factions to get rep quicker).

The vendor items are now supposed to be being sold at 350 light according to the update notes.  So if you have the legendary marks, picking up a nice new weapon will give you a big boost quickly.  And you can share it between your characters.

Oh and congrats on leveling up so quickly. Sounds like you'll be ready to join us in some raiding real soon.

Hey all, still having trouble getting legendary drops. Right now I'm at 245 light and it seems the only thing I can do are bounties and Normal Level 36 Strikes. I have no idea if I'm able to do The Vanguard Heroic Strike Playlist because I can't find it. Do I click on the Normal Strike Playlist and then change it from Level 36 to somehting else? Right now the only option I hav eis level 36 so I assume I dont have a high enough light level to change it to heroic...but I thought at least I could see it.

I've been doing a crap load of normal strikes and not backing out in order to get the buff to increase legendary drops but I honestly don't think I've gotten 1 single legendary drop even with doing 4 strikes in a row to increase the buff percentage.

I can't do the Daily Heroic Story or any of the SIVA playlists yet so I'm just wondering if normal strikes and bounties are my life until I can magically get a 350 light level to finally open up other things to do.
