Solstice armor quest is getting annoying. I am not confident I'll make it to the finish in a month and so the feelings of wasted time are creeping in. I was kind of in a manageable place doing weekly power upgrades.

I got the Solstice armour to the 1st upgrade. It wasn't all that pleasant.

I'll be at the same point shortly. Was waiting for Mayhem to finish up the crucible stuff. Also game to team up on the missions if I know when people will be on.

I was also waiting for Mayhem to do the Crucible super kills. Planning to get the blue armor for my warlock and start working on that today.

I heard the Nightfall this week is 'Will of the Thousands' which is the Xol strike on Mars. There is a Lost Sector nearby which should be good for farming with some not-so-prestigious Prestige Nightfalls. I think it's called Core Terminus. Prestige Nightfall modifiers Grenadier and Brawler can get you much faster grenade and melee cooldowns, respectively.

I also heard that Striker Titans can use Insurmountable Skullfort so that shoulder charge kills give you grenade energy and reset your shoulder charge melee ability. So it's good for both.

I just need to run NF to be able to upgrade my Titan armor to legendary.  Haven't even started on other characters yet.

I did the nightfall thanks to Blam and Wulley, and then Blam and I dashed through the missions. Still lawwwwwwts to do, but I'm starting to think I might actually get to see my warlock in the legendary armor.

And in other news....I think anticipation is starting to get to me... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QdBwKce8nvg

I got thru NF as well night before last -- thanks to BCyclops and Addicted2Chaos -- as well as charging thru 3 Heroic Strikes for that challenge.  NF appeared to be easier (Will of The Thousands) than last time I ran it as a Heroic Strike, probably because we were communicating vs. me running with randoms.  Titan now has legendary armor!!  It's good to be a 393!

Running my Warlock thru now.  Much quicker to get blue armor (one day) now that I know what works and what doesn't -- thank goodness for Mayhem!!  Going to be working on legendary upgrade today (and tomorrow) assuming real world real estate stuff doesn't get in the way.

For this round of DLC (Forsaken), I'm going to try before I buy. If the day to day mechanics (sans DLC) seem promising, I may buy it. Otherwise I'll be waiting for a sale. Realistically, I shouldn't be paying full price for end-game content I'll probably not get around to playing.

As Forsaken drops and Destiny 2 seemingly moves back in the general direction of Destiny 1, I found it interesting to revisit the differences between the two, and Bungies (laudable, in my opinion) design goals in D2. Some old articles that make good reading in this vein are:

Bungie is designing Destiny 2 to be a social hobby, not a second job

Destiny 2 players are running out of things to do, and that's great

I feel like the game finally feels like Destiny again with the weapon slot updates. Props to Bungie for realizing their mistakes and trying to make things right. I think Forsaken will be the turning point for Destiny 2 as it seems like Bungie has all hands to deck to make this a good expansion.

A lot of changes with the big update yesterday. Weapon slot changes and we have special ammo now. This will take a lot of getting used to since I didn't really play D1. I recently got the catalyst for Coldheart, so I was working on that yesterday and the day before. I noticed a huge difference after the update. Coldheart just melts enemies now, so finishing the catalyst was easy.

Then I tried a few crucible games and got destroyed there. Got killed by many snipers and shotguns. Now you get some special ammo every time you respawn for those snipers and shotguns. Not good so far. I was really enjoying crucible before the update, but now I don't know. It has changed a lot. Maybe I can adapt, but we'll see.

CAREFUL! I was grinding for phase needles and getting a feel for the new systems. I turned in my tokens at the IO mentor. Turns out I spent all of my phase needles. I am pissed, I didn't notice.

I met a wandering Boss. 480 required. Only a hundred+ to go. frown

lol. I did the exact same thing, and with the exact same resource. Spent some time this morning hanging out on Io trying to restock the larder.

I've killed two or more named yellow bars with long names that I didn't recognize. They seem to be new, but they certainly weren't 480 power!

I have a bunch of tokens for various destinations, but I am holding them until next week to hopefully get better loot. This change to needing materials for infusion AND ranking up is going to be quite time consuming.

The 480 recommended power info comes up after one of Ghaul's minions kills you.

First time a new Destiny product released and I wasn't onboard for the event. I feel sad about it but I am so hoping to at least hold off buying in until there is a sale.

I'm not done with Destiny, just on a delayed viewing cycle commensurate with my content access.

Pretty close to where I am right now. Although, I'm afraid if I don't pickup Forsaken, I might be done with Destiny.

I am excited for the launch today. Warmind was a positive step and I am enjoying the weapon slot updates.

Granted, Bungie has always been good at generating hype, but this really is a "make it or break it" expansion. If Bungie floats another turd then I think people will be leaving with all of the good stuff on the horizon from other developers.

I really hope Forsaken gets it right and we can all get back to our Destiny hobby.

Been thru the first 2 missions and a BUNCH of grinding.  Infusing will cost 10K glimmer and 25 planet materials (which vary depending on the infused piece).  I am actually storing blue drops that could increase my LL in the vault until I build up a good balance of glimmer and materials (lost the glimmer that I had).  This has really disappointed me.  Going to be a long grindy year.  Don't know if I want to spend a lot of time at it.

I'm doing my normal thing starting a new expansion, which is to equip my highest blues and throw away the rest. I like to get my power as close as possible to the cap before starting the infusion grind. Once I get some purple drops I really like, I will start getting tempted to infuse, but I still try to hold off as long as I can. Not sure this is the smartest or most fun way to level, but it does make me use equipment I otherwise would pass on (which I do find fun), and avoids a certain amount of repeated infusion on my favorite items.

I'm not really grinding right now either Krak. Just playing and equipping the random stuff I get as I play. I have actually deleted a fair amount of my Y1 stuff as the updated rolls and stats on weapons and armor make this new stuff far superior.

I did some collecting of destination materials prior to Forsaken, so I have a decent amount of stuff, but nothing crazy. I am mainly focusing on enjoying the new content. The grind will come later...lol

So, lore....  It is in the interface as promised, but not where I expected, and kinda buried. If you actually want to read the lore that flashes by on your screen, go to Triumphs, choose the Lore tab, find your item, and then show details.

Some of the baron fights are pretty challenging, so I ended up doing some infusing today to avoid dying more than my limited patience allowed!

I have bee switching over to blue armor and weapons (except the sleeper) to level up.  The glimmer and planet material cost is extremely high to infuse.

Almost every infusion uses Masterworks tokens too. I am not earning enough to keep my gear upgraded. I am earning a few Forsaken gear but the drop rates are sad. I hope I can maintain an interest while waiting to buy Forsaken.

The high cost of infusion is very limiting for sure, so I am keeping infusions to a minimum. I hope they reduce the infusion costs at some point. I am more focused on getting my characters to level 50 for starters. I have found that playing crucible matches is a fast way to level up, so I have been doing a lot of that. I'm getting about 4000xp per match. It's going pretty well. I like the 390rpm pulse rifles (like Inaugural Address and Last Perdition) a lot, and I'm pairing that with a special ammo shotgun like (Perfect Paradox or Baligant) most of the time. The 390rpm pulses can kill in only 3 bursts now if you can land a couple of headshots.

After I get them to level 50 then they can share high-level weapons with each other. I heard that the "soft cap" is 500 power now.

Got to level 50 and 501LL doing the missions, adventures, public events, patrols, flashpoint, clan XP, and bounties (as well as some material grinding). Haven't even been in Crucible or Strikes yet.  Maybe tomorrow for those.  Stay with the blues until you build up glimmer and materials.  Running the Lost Sector boss bounties will get you legendary gear.  I would save those until you have leveled up.  The legendaries then can drop at 500.  Not sure when I am going to run my second or third character thru this.  Might run my Titan thru and record it for walk thru videos.  Should be much easier now that I know what to expect.  Curious also to see if the Whisper heavy ammo glitch has been fixed.

Helpful tip for when you want to work on your other toons: Use leftover destination tokens to buy gear. I have thousands of destination tokens and found that while the loot you get is not Y2 Forsaken, it is still a Power incease and is really good when leveling. I am still not to 50/500, so I expect these will be less useful once I reach the soft cap. However, for leveling this really helps.
