The Thunderlord is easy to get and fun to use. I briefly tried it out in a public event and it was just laying waste to enemies. It works well against mini-bosses. I think it could work well for Gambit, some raid encounters like Shuro Chi, and other places with large groups of enemies. I tried it in Iron Banner a little bit, but didn't care for it too much there. I like other heavy weapons more in the Crucible. The Colony has been my go-to heavy weapon for PvP.
I've been playing a lot of Iron Banner this week and doing very well so far. Being level 600 seems to help a lot. I should be able to get most, if not all, of the IB bounties done to get the powerful gear.
I just realized that the modifiers today (after the daily reset) are Grounded, Heavyweight, and Arc Singe. So, it's a fantastic day to tear stuff up with the Thunderlord in Strikes and Daily Story Missions that have these modifiers.
BTW, the modifiers follow set rotations so you can predict what they are going to be on any given day. The rotations are:
I used the Thunderlord to take out the two wizards in the Ascendant Challenge with little effort. Hint -- I stayed up on the roof of the final area. They couldn't help but come out and play. The toughest part of this challenge is jumping down to the final area. Here's how I did it with my Warlock:
Forsaken + D2 + Expansions I and II is now $40 CDN. Maybe it will be even cheaper when the Annual Pass begins. Jan is looking good to get my moneys worth.
There is now an Anthem-specific group on the100.io that you can join, if you plan to check the game out and want more people to group up with. Look for the "Elder Legion".
Feb 1-3. They're calling it a demo rather than a beta. Presumably that means they are confident that the software will function properly.
Had a few people ask me about why we are doing an open Demo. This is why:your money is hard earned. Games are an investment. We think it’s fair you get to try before you buy.The entire campaign has been one of transparency, and we think Anthem is cool to watch but AWESOME to play
Everybody has their Thunderlord I hope. It's still a beast. I wish it had been in the game all along.

Anthem might get in the way though.

I will certainly be watching Anthem closely. I believe there will be an open Beta soon?
