Shadowkeep

The Shadowkeep DLC is a lot of fun!  A little D1 feel mixed with new and interesting stuff.  Those that left D2 early -- Shadowkeep includes everything "behind it."  There is so much to do.

I'm still pissed at Bungie. It's difficult to switch back to Destiny.

I'm considering buying Forsaken and Shadowkeep while they are on sale. To that end I'm playing what I have and completing a few Quests just to see if this game warrants any of my attention. I don't intend to buy the next Season until much much later if at all.

My desire for Destiny is basically at an all-time low. Forsaken and Shadowkeep are very good expansions, but these recent seasons have been less and less fun for me.

The constant power grind has just wore me down. The things that used to be fun, just feel like a chore. I boot up the game and just lose interest.

The past two raids I have not even stepped foot in and the two previous to those I have only completed once or twice. I suppose it's been tough ever since our main group here at 2o2p disbanded soon after D2 launch. We used to have a solid group (or two) raiding each week in D1. Slowly, people lost interest and drifted away.

I am actually playing very litte of any game right now. I did get into Jedi Fallen Order over the holidays. Recently though, I haven't really been playing much.

I suppose a break from the game will be good. This time it feels different though. We'll see...

Agree on the grind.  Once you hit a "cap," currently 960, the only ways to level up is thru IB grind, raids and legendary/master stuff like NF and the Nightmare Hunts to get Pinnacle gear which bumps up to 962 -- or -- the power grind; doing daily and weekly bounties, patrols, Adventures, etc. over and over again to get XP increases to get power level bumps.  The higher the power level the more of these activities required to get to the next power level.  For example, my overall level is at the 970 -- 960 level gear and power level 10.  To keep bumping power level requres more and more grinding (and time).  IB does have makeable weekly bounties which provide Pinnacle gear but they also require dedicated time to get.

When Shadowkeep first came out I became invested in it because the stories, missions, strikes, etc. were new and pretty cool, while also bring back memories of D1 with the Moon activities.  However, once I hit the cap and started the real grind, I started to lose interest.  I do belong to a group that plays a lot of these "master" activities, but they are either scheduled too late for me to join or are already full when I see them,  They are also extremely difficult.  The progression now demands full fireteam play and not being able to get in on that on a regular basis tends to leave one in the dust.

I stll play, but more as a diversion than as a dedicated player.  I have actually turned my attention back to Halo Reach since it was added to Halo MCC.  I have also jumped back into D1 now and again and have been surprised at how much I have forgotten about the game -- almost to having a new feel for me.  I do miss the old group we used to run with and the fun (well for most of us) we had.

I got my Titan up to 960 using my armour from a year or more ago. For me it was kind of a fuck you to Bungie. Forsaken and Shadow Keep have some cool stuff and I enjoyed it. Then the latest season started and I'm not falling into that pit.

The high level activities you guys mentioned are out of my reach and I doubt any reasonable effort could result in a happy success.

While I truly miss the Raids we all did, they were very hard on me. So much perfection required and for doing some of the stupidest things like standing on plates while getting slaughtered by enemies. Raids were hard on social relationships too.

I blame Bungie. Especially that plump prick Luke Smith. The grind is real, just as they intended and "oh hey" look at these great Streamers who just finished our great game! Let's give them grinding codes to give away on their streams.

BTW, Halo Infinite better have smooth movement mechanics like D2. It's the best of any game I've played.

Funny you mention MCC Achy. I was thinking last night about booting it up and playing Reach. I might give it a go and see how it plays.

I am "reliving" the campaign on Mythic LASO difficulty and of course Long Night of Solace is driving me nuts!
