5-n-1
http://slashdot.org/topic/cloud/retron-5-plays-cartridges-from-five-classic-consoles/
"In addition to NES, SNES, and Genesis, the RetroN 5 will play cartridges from Famicom (the Japanese version of NES) and Game Boy Advance."
"Besides having five cartridge slots, the RetroN 5 will have two controller ports for each system (with the NES and Famicom using the same ports, and SNES controllers powering GBA games). There will also be Bluetooth controllers designed by Hyperkin that work on any of the systems’ games. Also new in the RetroN 5 is HDMI connectivity for modern TVs, in addition to AV ports that can hook up to the old “fat” screens."
They're trying to come in under $100.
that's pretty cool. I'd look into getting it to play GBA games on a big screen.
Looks a nice item but I'm not sure how it will play. Old systems hooked up to HD TVs are pretty much unplayable. Which company is trying to make it?
Looks neat if you already have the games.
Just before I started my Reno's I hooked up my PS1 to the 50" HDTV. I agree. It looks like crap compared to my old 27" CRT I kept around.
Yeah I still have an old tv hooked up to a PS2 and gamecube. I couldn't believe how bad they look in HD.
It has an hdmi hookup, they go into some tech talk about how hdtv's try to fill in space and they are removing that space.
" "With the HDMI output, the RetroN 5 will be able to display games at up to 720p resolution. Hyperkin has also taken steps to eliminate the blurry effect you get when playing older, standard-definition content on high-definition screens.
“When [the games] were programmed originally, there was a space in between each pixel,” Lee explained. “But a modern television does not recognize that space and will attempt to fill it in with surrounding colors, which is why it’s actually blurry compared to playing it on an old-school CRT [Cathode ray tube]. What we’ve done is we’ve gone back and we’ve put that space back into it. You can actually identify each and every pixel—it comes out looking like high definition.” "
Lets wait until the reviews come out..........gif)
