Community Bounty Hunter - oXI ENIGMAZ IXo - Revenge of the Giants

New CBH contest is up and running.
http://forums.forzamotorsport.net/forums/thread/5652054.aspx

DirtT already has a tuned Range Rover for this event.  It's available in the West and I believe the Euro garage.

M3, I've gifted you my Transit tune.  I've been able to run a 59.928 in it, and while I've gotten better at parts selection I tend to shy away from venturing from the settings I get from the MyForzaGarage tuning calc.

Contest details below.  Since this is a community bounty there's no unicorn prize.

Good Luck.

Well hello there everyone! I'm Will and I am going to be your next Bounty!

As some of you know, I was selected to be the bounty in the event I created, Revenge of the Giants. For those that don't, I was one of many winners in phREDESIGN's Create a Rivals event challenge. Winning came with a possibility to get your event featured in the monthly Rivals section. A perk that came with that was that for a week that the challenge was up, the creator would get to be the bounty. So here I am.

THE CHALLENGE:

The challenge is to beat the time that I set. I'll post the time I set here but just remember, I could always set a better time and will indeed be setting multiples over the course of the week. The name of the event is The event is a track day event based on time, located in the Community Monthly section of Rivals mode. Hop in the challenge and run a few laps and yell at the AI for a little bit. Then, join the conversation here. I'm sure there will be lot's of rage stories and times posted.
The deadline for this event is August 23rd, 2012 at 8 AM PST.

Time To Beat: TBD

Current time: 1:16.097 CLEAN - Set in a stock Hummer

THE REWARD:

As of yet, the reward is still credits until phREDESIGN says that my car is a go. When and if he does approve it, I'll post it here but the curious will probably already know. I'll keep you all updated on this

THE SIDE COMPETITIONS:

There are going to be various side challenges going on throughout the week, so keep a keen out on this thread. More accurately, keep an eye out on my second post beneath this to find out what and when they will be, along with what prizes you will get. After the competitions close, I'll post the winners.

HOW TO FIND ME:

Search storefront for vinyl groups; use the gamertag search feature to isolate me
Click an item and choose go to owner's storefront
From my storefront you can now press "Y"
And select add to favorites

So do you think you can keep your controller in one piece to beat my time? I imagine that there will be some shouting at TVs and some mad posts here. Just remember to not let the anger get to you. After all, No Pain, No Gain!

I'll take a look at your Transit later tonight Shaggy. I had to Frankenstein a Transit tune for the DirtT (psybertech build, some settings from Madax64, and I tweaked everything including suspension for riding on warning strips). At the end, I had to choose between severe understeer on the wheel or hotter front tires (especially the front right). Understeer is a no-no given that the event is about traffic avoidance and alternate lines. Still not too bad, but I couldn't beat my Range Rover hot lap time (56.473) with the Transit (56.686). Center of gravity on it is higher, so chicanes and quick changes of direction are trickier for the Transit.

Once the tires warm up on the Range Rover (3-4 laps on Ladera Full), you'll find that it handles really well. It's quick, neutral and grippy. Impervious to rumble strips--you can pretty much drive on the rumble strips in certain parts of the track to pass vehicles when necessary. Handles more like a car than an SUV.

I posted a 1:01.334 from a standing start with cold tires and all last night with the Range Rover. Made a replay that I put in the SF (since the LB replays omit traffic). Check out the short replay to see what a favorable traffic pattern looks like, and also to learn where you can pass cars.

Would appreciate if 204F members also download and rate the DirtT tunes and paints eventhough they are available in your club garages. We're always a target for hate raters, and the only immunization is having large number of downloads and ratings to drown out the hate rates.

P.S. Don't believe the leaderboard times--they all block traffic, so the Top of the chart is basically littered with Hot Lap times. Shaggy's 59.xxx seconds is a very respectable time for this Track Day event.

Looks like it's credits but we just don't know the amount.

The reward will be credits. Credits will be the reward. And the number of the credits shall be (insert credit value here). We're still working on the amount. :-)

Oh yeah the current time to beat is a 59.441 but I think Enigmaz may make one more run tonight to set his final time.

I ran a 58.678 last night in the SVT Raptor so a sub 59 second time is doable without blocking but you need a bit of luck with traffic and a lot of patience.

The Range Rover is pretty good.

My time of 59.3 was done without blocking and on lap 3 - replay proves all laps legit... so I am impressed with it. It holds the line well and has enough LOTOS for me while still allowing the power tp be put down trough the turns. Nicely done!

I haven't run anything else really. I plan on waiting to see how the event starts off and I'll take it from there.

I plan on downloading and rating the Rover, but I don't plan on running this event any more.  This CBH isn't even slightly fun IMO.

Traffic Days are an acquired taste. But there is a pattern to the traffic (actually 6-8 different configs), and once you're familiar with it, and with the track and car, it becomes quite easy to post good times. Without blocking traffic that is.

Try limiting yourself to a standing start lap. As soon as you dirty the lap, start over. This way, you'll soon start to see the traffic patterns, and which ones are bad. Fortunately, it's a really short track, so there aren't many "clumps of traffic" to memorize. Basically, only three clumps to deal with.

That a quick look at the one minute replay I have in my SF. It was a favorable traffic pattern, and the Range Rover was extremely stable even on cold tires, riding on curbs to pass.

And hint--either pick a ghost that is way ahead (by 2 seconds or more) so you can see traffic, one that is way slower or one without a replay. The dang ghosts are so huge, they not only block the view of the track, but more importantly, the small car traffic. I've had a few cars "pop up" right in front of me while I was chasing a ghost. laugh

Oh yeah--I also sent a Toureg and Transit tunes out to Shaggy and Church. You should have those in the club garage soon. IMHO, so far, the Range Rover is the best of them. A DIrtT Raptor is in the works and should be available by the weekend.

So those are the tuning gifts I see in my File Depot on FM.net.  Cool.
Will put them up in the West Garage this evening.

I'll give them each a spin as I try my hand at the standing start lap side contest.

IMO it's worth the time to enter.  That Ferrari is pretty sweet.
I was lucky enough to win one from DirtT's CBH on Autumn Fallout.

Our DirtT Alien MURPH just did a 57.908 on the second lap in the DirtT Body Shop Range Rover in the Track Day event! Without blocking traffic. He says he can do even better in it. There are some good tips you can pick up from the replay that I uploaded to my SF. The LB replay won't have traffic, but the one in my SF does. Go check it out!

Meanwhile, I improved my standing start time in the same event to 59.907. Unfortunately, there's no special prize for a standing start, but the time still puts me in the Top 500 for now! I just love the Range Rover for this event!

Meanwhile, I also put a DirtT Transit & Toureg up for Revenge of the Giants. Just in case you preferred a van or smaller SUV. Look out for the Raptor tune also going up this weekend.

I have actually enjoyed most of the track day events I just don't find this one to be even remotely fun, and in the context of a game, that should be a part of the equation.  It comes down more to that I don't like the track, I don't like the car options, and the A.I., even for this game, are painfully bad in this event.  Add it all together and it equals the least amount of fun that I've had in Forza 4.

FWIW:

I managed a 58.3xx legit, no blocking run last nite on lap 3. I tried for a while to get better but I just was frustrating myself and the AI in the process all the while getting more and more drunk. It seemed as the nite went along the AI 'knew' I was toasted and were really became asshats by ramming, blocking, going 3 wide into every turn, so I said fuck it and basehd the crap out of them for a lap and ran a hotlap. So yeah, my new time is not legit. But I wasn't frustrated any more... I was as giddy as a school boy. :p

I will try one last time most likely tomorrow but I don't know if I am capable of getting lower than that 58.3 I had without screwing with the pack.

The cars we have for this event are all good and all can run nearly identical times. The VW was a shocker and i really liked that one for some reason. But in the end, I just ran the rover.

Anyway.............

Got it done! 58.377 in the 11th lap with the DirtT Body Shop Range Rover. Made a little mistake in the chicane before the straight near the end, or would have been in the high 57.xxx. Not too bad for a mini school bus! Stick out tongue Replay is in the SF.

The Raptor is undoubtedly faster. I just like the Range Rover, so I had to see whether I could beat ENIGMAZ who was driving the DirtT Raptor.

phRED announced the prize money for beating the Bounty--an armor car breaking 250,000 Fredits. 71

In the end, only a little more than 600 people were ahead of ENIGMAZ out of 15,000 or so that put up a time in the event.

Kinda disappointed in the CBH reward amount as well considering how much a player can make just competing in the event from bounties and bonuses.
I wonder what the car was that Enigmaz pitched to T10 and why wasn't it approved?

With two T10 bounties next month and Horizon coming out in October, I doubt we'll see many more CBH's.
