Contraptions And Advice

Post pictures and/or video of your contraption or others you've seen.

For example, after the update that brings pistons, you'll be able to build an automatic wheat harvester.  This is a slightly more advanced variant of one:

You've got to remember: some of the things in this game happened over a longer period of time, especially its quirks.  People had time to stumble into these things when building.

This is what I've been struggling with. I think I got it now..... just when you think you've done everything before an update.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BsTrwxIn5NA&feature=youtube_gdata_player

Pengwn,  I found the solution to your "switching tracks" problem.

Notice how the power is right underneath the the block that holds the track you need switched?

I've been reading up on this stuff all day during breaks and slow downs. I had no idea redstone could get this involved.

Aha.  Nice.  That'll make my track much cleaner.  Thanks.

Virtually none of you have seen clay yet.  This seed will get you spawned right in front of it, if you want to get a little more familiar with it before the update comes and it is plentiful: ThatsAsdaPrice

Levi, it also has to sprout torches as well.  Then you've got the Gul wet dream.

Probably nothing a couple extra pistons and wiring couldn't solve, lol.

Anybody have video capture equip hooked to their xbox? I ask because I built a front door home defense system last night   that comes in handy if you use pressure plates that I'd be happy to show but I don't have a way to capture vids.

You should pretty much just watch all of his videos, you know, if you get rid of your spouse and children and stop working in order to make time for all of them.

Is anyone else having problems with the piston-style t-flip flop?

I was working on a pretty complicated build so I just figured I had a repeater delay setting wrong or something so after back tracking and rebuilding I started going over circuit by circuit.  It turned out that when I manually added a block between the piston and the torch for the pistons on the left side and top the circuit fired fine.  When I used the t-flip flop it just didn't fire.  I dummied up a separate pulse limiter/monostable circuit to a t-flip flop to test and it just didn't seem to work.

Has anyone gotten this type of linkage to work yet?

Just so you know, I don't really care about the actual door.  So don't fucking recommend a different door to me.  I just want to know if I can use this type of circuit for other builds as well.  Also, don't recommend the wiki to me or any other half-assed jerk-offery like Dixon usually pulls.  If you can't answer the question just shut your holes.

OIder gamers suck.

I'm having problems understanding the t-flip flop as a whole. Spent a couple hours trying to get one to work with my secret room door and finally just gave up. Your first paragraph tells me you already know more about it than I do so I am no help smiley.

My problem is I'm one of those guys who doesn't want to know what time it is, I want to know how the clock works. Maybe if I watch enough tutorial videos I'll catch the drift of it.

I'm kind of the same way.  If the circuit had worked I would have never learned anything.  But once it didn't I started trying to figure out why and that's where I learned everything in that first paragraph.  I've got a few more configurations I'm going to try before I give up and put in a spiral door.  I just don't want that hole in my door if I can avoid it.

I finally got a T Flip Flop to work AND it's a nice and simple compact version. I only took a shot of it from one angle but the video below the pic is the tutorial.

I'm actually using slight mod of that version and it's working fine. I don't know if it was just update issues or what but the next day everything fired fine.

Its a buggy ass game for sure but still crazy fun.
