Crota's End HM
We did VoG in HM last week and had a great time. Both SC Fnord Ranger and myself have the precursor guns to the Necrochasm and would like a shot at getting a crux of crota to finish them off. At the moment I believe I have seen 3, maybe 4 people willing to go in (Fnord, myself, RippingGester & Darth (?)),but still need to confirm that date/time is going to work. Anyone else want a shot at some CE raid gear?
Saturday, July 16, 8pm eastern time.
I still need a Crux too, so I am up for a HM Crota run.
Depends on the night but I should be available.
Edit:
Duh, just saw the date and time. I will definitely be available then. Unless everyone wants to experience the :"thrill" of the abyss, I can probably cheese it.
I might be in for it but it's tentative depending on the state of my current raid team this week.
Depends when you want to do it, I'll be out of town starting Saturday until Friday.
I'll make an effort to be on and run it with you guys (even though I dismantled my Necrochasm ages ago!).
Personally, I enjoy fighting through the abyss, but cheese is fine too.
In case anyone missed the date time that I suggested:
Saturday, July 16, 8pm eastern time.
I'll let the group decide if we want to cheese it or not. I'm up for at least giving the thrall a run though.
If running the Abyss, equip your Guardian subclass for max agility and equip the MIDA (with its agility perks). Titans can run with the AC/DC Feedback Fence gauntlets to help counter Thrall melees. Warlock Voidwalkers can run to about the 5th lamp with max agility. Use persistent grenades when you have to. Having a blind bubble at the bridge can help to get more across.
There is a high rock you can jump up to near second lamp, use the Midas rifle with 2+ agility perk on, jump as high to the ledge on second level, so you won't have to run through third, fourth lamp, and so on. I have done this several times some months ago - best use Hunter's Bones of Eaos for higher jumps or Warlock (tried with Titan and failed).
The jump can be done with all three classes. I actually found the Titan jump to be the least difficult for me - not to say that it's easy.
Here's a video of my Titan (year 1) soloing the Abyss. Would have been a smidgen easier with MIDA equipped, but I wanted Gjally in the heavy slot. The Murmur has the +2 agillity perk: https://youtu.be/-5jKu8Qq0Zg
Did the second rock jump twice today on hard mode with my Titan Defender using the Multi-Tool, jump set to height, and also raw speed for extra agility. I used the 1000 yard stare to take out the Ogre from the top of the big rock to the right of the bridge. One can actually drop a bubble and wait it out once the Ogre starts "firing" but I like to take him out. I can record this approach if anyone is interested.
Achy, see video posted in my last message - I waited the Ogre out in a bubble on the short rock (that wasn't the plan, just missed my first rocket shot). Have done it from the big rock, but just find it harder to get up there knowing the big guy is breathing down my neck.
Good to know it still works. I tried it a couple of times the other night with the warlock and failed at it. Every time I would boost, it would start then the weight would drag me back down. I guess I need to work on my timing and getting the angle just right.
Watched. Year 1 I used Hunger of Croata since I didn't get a Gally until much later. That freed me up to use the multi-tool which made jumping up on the big rock a lot easier. Year 2 any high impact sniper will take out the Ogre from the large rock and the bubble provides back up. I noticed you took out the Knight before you made the turn up the hill. One can sneak up to the lamp, take the weight off, and run right by him. I will record this and put it up in about an hour.
@KalSC, the Warlock jump is a pain in the butt, but doable.
So, ran across a reddit thread earlier that said you can block Crota's sword swing with an exotic sword, and that raze-lighter can bring him to knee. I went to youtube, and found a video of a hard mode solo using the raze-lighter to block, get him to knee and killing him. Pretty neat.
I think it means you are lactose intolerant...
I'll be mowing away. The only time I've completed the raid we walked through. I had my Zhalo with me and it made quick work of the thrall. Now granted that was on normal mode. I was going to try red death to mow them down, but may go back to my good ol' Zhalo for some electric fun.
In case we all fall down

Nice and easy, Achy... gonna have to give it a try sometime
Hi guys, Looks like the interest in tonight's Crota run is:
Me, SC Fnord Ranger, Darth Tabasco, OldNAchy, DatBasementCat, and Hammerdrake. Blam, Minotaur or anyone else that may want to join in, please stop by around 8 in case anyone cannot make it.
Unless there is an objection, and someone really wants a shot at getting the edict, I know OldnAchy has a checkpoint after the abyss. To save time, the SC family is ok with starting there.
If we make the run through Crota quickly. Several of us in the party also have a HM KF checkpoint at Oryx, so we could move along to attempting to check another MoT in our books for those of us who need it.
Hope to see you all tonight at 8pm eastern for another fun filled night of raiding!
