I am looking for a guild.  I also am going to play this quite a bit, even though I haven't been able to this last weekend since I was out of town visiting my son.

So this is an MMO? Can someone point me to "the"/one trailer that's going to sell this game to me? I'm intrigued but I unfortunately don't have a lot of time to do research...

It's a psudo-mmo, from what iv'e read from people really into MMOs is that they don't consider this a traditional MMO.  FOr me used to playing with 4-8 people in console games, this is much larger in population than anything else the 360 has to offer so i guess it depends on your perspective.

It's a combo of Borderlands, Rage, Red Faction and Crackdown.  If you're  a fan of any two of those games, you'll probably like it.  However the game doesn't hold your hand, it has a lot of currency, progression and boosts and explains practically none of it to you.  If your time is limited, you might not like this 'figure it out' element.  Then again, there's plenty of us with 100+ hours into it by now so we can be your 'how does this work' resource.

There is a ton to do, off the top of my head

Main story missoins, side missions, random environmental missions, huge environmental events, TV Tie in episodic missions, fully narrated coop missions, pvp, challenges, contracts and leaderboard based games like racing or shooting stuff in x amount of time.   There's always SOMETHING to do in the game even when you're done.

As for enemy types, there are Hellbugs which are insects that come up from the ground in various sizes and have tough hides.  There are the mutants and bandits which have different attacks but they're among the easier enimies to deal with, the 99ers which are cyborgs and have shields and energy weapons , Dark Matter guys who have shields, force fields and invis and lastly there's the scrappers which are basically robotic creatures.  So there's lots of enemy variation as you move through the game as well.

Hey Guys!  I'd love to join the clan or at least group up with ya!  Will probably play a little later tonight so if you're on please look me up. In-game/gamertag = Rally Trox / FlyinBlind72.

Got a chuckle out of a kid last night who was torqued out that I took a shot at a Hellbug in an Arkfall which he apparently thought his clan owned.  He followed me around shooting at my head with a shotgun for about 10 minutes while I cracked up.

Was wishing I had someone playing with me who could have seen this chuckle-head.  LOL.

I'm playing defiance on Xbox eu servers. Really enjoying the game, I've heard people calling it a mmorpg or mmofps. For me none of this matters who cares what it is, people just need to ask them selfs am I enjoying the game? For me that's a big yes. I've played WOW and other RPGs on pc, mass effect etc on Xbox and I'm enjoying defiance just as much, it's nice to have a mmo game on Xbox even with all its faults at the min. It's also nice to have devs that for now seem to give thought to the players.

fun game, at the moment im stuck at JackLeg Joe though. figured i would chase some Arkfalls for a game session or two and start adding mods to my maxed out weapons to see if it gives me that extra edge. im not even sure this is something that can be co-oped, but if it can anyone want to jump in?

That encounter is specifically solo.  I found weapon selection to be very key.  I had good success using an SMG and a combat shotgun, though the shotgun fired grenades that detonated on impact.  Most of the fight though I did with the SMG - to get the fire guys running, and to unleash bullets on Jackleg Joe from afar when it was available.  The shotgun helped when I had to clear the initial guys, and towards the end of the fight.

I don't think I've modded any weapon yet.  Nearly EGO 500 at the moment.

Unfortunately, the "boss" missions are solo missions.  Jackleg and Nim are beyond tough.  I finally beat Jackleg by standing behind the boxes and picking his minions off one by one.  Then disappearing and running to the other side behind a box when he spotted me.  I would still stand behind the box and pick his fire guys off (shoot their backpacks).  And then unload on Jackleg when the fire guys would blow up Jacklegs shield.  After you get Jackleg down to about 1/2 way on his life meter, he will jump down to the lower level with you.  Then it is just a matter of strafe firing on him and making sure you circle large enough to stay the fuck outta his line of fire and way.

Now Nim... he is harder than anything I've ever faced.  He is a REAL challenge that I haven't figured out yet.  I figure I need to "level" up some before I go into to his mission again.  I went in with an EGO rating of around 244ish the first time.  I dunno if it'll help to level up or not, but I won't go back in their until I am comfortable with the weapon I am using and the mods are excellent on it.

The easiest way I found to take out Jack-leg was to use the invis perk.  Use invis to get behind the fire pack guys to ignite them, theh shoot jack when he kneels, then pick off everyone until your ego meter recharges, rinse and repeat.  Should only take about 5 mins or so.  As far as Nim goes though, that is another battle altogether.  I was soooo happy when I finished that fight.

I think the only thing you gain being a higher EGO level is you can have more perks unlocked and more of them active at once.
