Destiny via mobile hotspot with consistent Open NAT and fast connection : is it possible?

Just curious if anyone has successfully and consistently been able to play Destiny with a fast connection and an Open NAT while connected to XBox Live via a smartphone mobile hotspot? (Assumptions: open data plan, fast data connection on phone itself)

Wish I had solid evidence but I don't. I can only image the data throughput/transfer rate, using a smart phone as hotspot linking to WWW, must be atrociously inadequate. I'll ask on a different site.

I'm guessing you are still looking for solutions to your NAT issues with your current provider?

Thanks for sharing this at Destiny.Bungie.org, Deep! Interesting discussion. Pretty much what I expected, but thought I'd ask anyway in case the actual answer was "Yes! Best kept secret out there!"

I use a couple of Verizon Jetpacks - have used one of them since 2011. Smart phones generally aren't as good as a dedicated data device - aren't as fast and is hard on the phone. Because of location, I don't have a better alternative. Someday... I'll move to get better net, which will be at a much lower cost/month.

My newest Jetpack (bought in February) will usually provide 10+ Mbps download and 1-2 Mps upload with an 80ms ping (works great in the crucible), unless it's during peak demand times, then it can suck. My older Jetpack typically does 1-2 download and 1-5 upload (works great for PvE). I've seen up to 20 Mbps download from either during the wee hours. The new "unlimited" data plans actually hurt overall speeds because a tower can be swamped by too many users during peak times (like 4pm-9pm), but I like the lower cost/month. Each Jetpack is limited to 10Gb 4G high speed data, before switching to something slower, that at times is just more than dial-up speed - it seems.

If you have multiple cell towers to draw on, your data speeds will be higher and ping times better more of the time. Most times I see a moderate NAT. A few times I see an open NAT. Don't know how to make it one or the other. Voice chat most times is as good as a good cell phone conversation. Data throughput is about 330Mb per hour while in the crucible - about half that for PvE.
