Difficulty settings

How do you set up your games?

Do you select the lowest difficulty setting because you want to get through it?

Do you keep the normal default setting as that is how the game was designed?

Do you choose the hardest setting for the most callenge?

I generally play a game on Normal the first time. This way I get to enjoy the story. If I do a second play through, I usually do it on the hardest and focus on the gameplay and skip most of the story to just get it done.

I would say my gaming time is pretty precious - I usually start on Normal.  If there is a bonus to playing through on Hard, and I like the mechanics enough, I'll go back through.

It depends on the game. A game like Diablo, no I don't put it on hardcore but I may put it on a tougher setting for better drops. A game like Elder Scrolls goes on the hardest settings but never hardcore.

Most games today, are easy.

Most games now have a NG+ so I play on Normal to get through initial playthough to unlock those elite difficulty settings.  That way I can use abilities/gear for the second playthrough.
