Earthbound may finally be re-released!
Itoi’s original tweet regarding this republication of EarthBound — also known by its Japanese moniker Mother — was translated into English by the fan site EarthBound Central which read:
Since it’s now okay to blurt this out, here goes: the ‘Mother republication’ thing I mentioned briefly before is making progress. It’s not Mother 4 though! This has to do with making Mother playable. I can’t give out any details just yet, but I do at least need to say that it isn’t 4.
But what platforms? Should I be holding my breath for iOS?
If I remember from some of the articles, it was mentioned he was working with Nintendo. The only reason they haven't released it yet, is b/c the soundtrack ripped off a lot of the popular music at that time. It was done on purpose, and part of the game's charm. According to some reports they are currently working on a new soundtrack to go with the game.
