9. While pitting you must use the FULL entry road and exit road. You must also say when you are entering or exiting the pits. Failure to use the full pit entry and exit road will result in a 10 seconds penalty to be added on your final race time.
WARNING (I think) WARNING
Grimm, can you please clarify that you MUST in fact come to a complete stop during your pit.
I was just testing the pit out and it is VERY difficult to slow down enough to not just run right through the pit without getting service to your car, dont say I didn't warn you, Parcells was shocked.
Since we are running cosmetic damage, you will not come to a full stop nor is it required. You do have to be careful entering the pits though as you can crash if you come in too hot.
Thanks to everyone who turned out for the inaugural race in the Volvo Touring Championship Season as the series headed to the twisty track of Camino Extreme. Next week we start the first of three races in the United States as we head to Road Atlanta. Hope to see you there.
Sorry I missed the race but I fell asleep on the sofa, when I woke up it was 10 min before the start but all I could do was crawl up to bed. Maybe next week.
It may not look like Parcells performed up to expectations last evening but once you hear my explanation I think you’ll be proud of how I represented Team Pistonhead in the inaugural event.
During the very close practice sessions I mentioned how the race will come down to whoever makes a mistake. Granted that observation didn’t need to be proven but I felt it important to show the guys how it plays out.
So half way through lap one I found myself not far behind the leaders in position 4 or 5 when I accidentally (purposely) tapped someone else. Whoever I tapped went along their merry way but Parcells spun out and I found myself in second to last place. I passed a couple of people after that and eventually caught up to excitement. Not long after that Burnt had his sticky grass incident putting him behind me and a couple laps later I was able to get by excitement back into P5 but the leaders were too far gone at this point.
Then I fucked up once more allowing both Burnt and excitement ahead of me. Burnt got by excitement and eventually I did too and for the last 8-9 laps Burnt and I had an amazing battle. I was maybe(?) half a second faster in overall lap times over Burnt but very difficult to pass but did get by him with a very nice out lap allowing me to JUST get by him when he left the pits on the following lap (like just barely – he was on the track when I swooshed by). A little later Burnt pressured me into going wide which I did giving him back P5 but I still had half a dozen laps to take him which I thought would occur sooner or later all I have to do is wait for Burnt to make the slightest mistake I was ready to pounce. I still wasn’t concerned going into the second last lap still behind because all kinds of time left but when I’m still in P6 at the start of the last lap I start to question whether I’ll get this bastard as it seems he wasn’t willing to slip up. Eventually the pressure must have finally gotten to Burnt as he pulled a Church maneuver around the beginning of the second sector.
So clearly I wasn’t in last night race for the points. I was proving a point for everyone that you can’t fuck up in these races and expect a podium finish. The competition is simply too good. Perhaps the most disappointing thing was that no-one thanked Parcells for the lessons I was doling out last evening. I think they all thought it was my typical race craft, go figure.
In the end I had a fun time passing excitement twice and a totally awesome battle with Burnt so Parcells left happy!
Thanks to everyone for coming out and congrats to Parcells for the well deserved win. Also good to see some new faces in the race and we hope others join in the future Next week we head to Laguna Seca. Hope to see you there.
Team PistonHeads and our new sponsor's ebay would like to congratulate Parcells on an outstanding victory. I have to apologise for my no show as I fell asleep in the team motor home. I will try to make it next week.
