Format for 3-18-12 Block Party

Each player chooses his or her favorite block and builds a Block Constructed deck. The twist is that each player's favorite block may be different! That means the best decks from Mirrodin block will do battle against the likes of the decks from Onslaught block. Or you can see how the Ravnica block would fare against the Masques block. Players build decks according to the Block Constructed rules from each of their blocks (including their Banned Lists, if any) and play following the normal Block Constructed rules. All cards have to come from the  block set you pick. Land must be basic unless it's from the set you pick. I hope each one of us picks a differnt set so than it makes it better gameplay. Please Post which set you are using and maybe that will help. If they are the same no biggy. Thinking which set i'm going to use right now

Congrats on your win.

We've played "choose your own block " before. Block Party is a good name for it though.

That said, Block Constucted is one the formats I'm least experienced at. I'll have to do some thinking this week.enlightened

Hope you make it.

I made two decks to look at for this format and haven't decided which to use. My first was a Time Spiral version of one I have played before in casual clannie games using Baru.

The other is a Ravnica (Dimir) deck that I threw together. I have more Rav cards than anything because that was the block that came out when I first started playing MTGO.

I may throw a Ravnica (Boros) one together also...that was my fave for a long time.

Wish I could come, but I will be enjoying Disney World this weekend.  Jello......Kamigawa is when I first started playing magic.  Compared to some of you, I am still a noob!!!!! And, FC, I think I saw you waaaaay in the back of your video.  I'm sure it was you!!!!

We've had diferent events set up on different days many times...They always peter out. Sunday mornings is the only one that has lasted, (about 3 years now I think). That's why I don't want to lose Sundays.

We could always try settting up another meetup time in addition to Sunday though. Saturday mornings prolly isn't ideal, I'm guessing. The last one we had was "Saturday Night Multiplayer", started by Kevin, but mainly attended by Serp, Hades, me & Zholtok, sometimes Doc & sometimes my daughter. It only lasted a few months before it just fizzled.

Friday nights have fizzled several times. Thursday never took off. MrCross started a Wednesday night tourney very much like Sundays...it lasted about two months or so.

Anyways, let's not stop Sundays but rather try starting something else in addition.wink

Me weekend keeps getting busier. I have to put a set of brakes on my truck Saturday morning. Then my dtr's softball practice. Then help my bro move.

I have Sundays at 11:00 reserved for MTGO though!

This was the quickest tourny I've been in for quite a while. It was just Fort and I and we played 3 games in less than 30 minutes. We were both playing Time Spiral, Fort with a White/Blue and me with mono Green Baru deck. I must apologize up front...I played 4 Mwonvuli Acid Moss in my deck. I'm not a fan of LD, but wanted something to handle lands like Mystifying Maze. It also fetches land to pump my crits with Baru. Anyway, in the first game I had 2 in hand and drew a third, so I had a huge land advantage early. Second game I had one on the draw, and third game I had one on the second turn.

Regarding the times for tournaments. I like Sunday mornings. I'm almost always home on Sundays, and even if I am very hungover (like yesterday), I'm still up so I can play. Friday night used to be the normal time, but Friday nights I am usually out with my wife and friends, as I am on Saturday nights. I'm open to playing some during the week, and try to check in a couple of nights to see if anyone is around. Jello and I have played several games weeknights. I know that is the wrong time for Fort, and don't know other's schedules.
