here's the conspiracy theory I posted on another forum, quoted exactly.
the new viper's intro video has seemingly been filmed in forza 4, which fits in surprisingly well with the biggest rumor I've been tracking in quite some time.
that rumor is the one showcased in the above DRIVE video, that ganassi racing's grand-am program is to become an ALMS or even FIA WEC GT program with viper race cars built by riley technologies.
it all fits in to place, you see. rumor has it ganassi racing quietly dropped the "earnhardt" name from their NASCAR program last month. dodge needs a NASCAR team and they'd be the perfect fit, the only real stumbling block was the earnhardt name, which is eternally associated with chevrolet. with that out of the way, dodge had it's first real shot at a top tier team since realizing that penske racing was leaving them for ford. but I think chip ganassi wouldn't go for a straight up switch without a special incentive, and that's where the vipers come in. given the option of running a factory racing program for SRT that could give chip his first ever shot at Le Mans and sebring is a pretty big deal. in the press release that dodge issued when penske announced their ford switch, SRT CEO ralph gilles made an effort to mention that they have more motorsports programs in the works not directly related to NASCAR. it seemed obvious to me that this was referring to what I at the time thought would be an SRT viper GT program with TRG, but if it was with ganassi, that would explain why they thought to mention it in a NASCAR statement.
now where does Forza fit into this you ask?
ah, that's the best part. microsoft game studios is one of many associate sponsors of the target racing team, which is the conglomerate of smaller companies that works with mega retailer target to sometimes sponsor the various target racing cars run by ganassi (the 42 of JPM in NASCAR, the 9 of scott dixon in IndyCar and the 10 of dario franchitti in IndyCar). for about eight months now, juan pablo montoya has been tweeting about the fact that one of his newfound hobbies was playing forza 4. this all cuminated with a king of the track challenge, a time trial in the game where normal forza fans try to beat a time set by a celebrity, featuring the famed racing driver.
meanwhile, on the other side of the forza marketing world, turn 10 studios has been working with the likes of BMW and Hyundai to introduce a few of their new cars into the game as free DLC, along with featuring them in the autovista "virtual showroom" mode. the press leaked shots of the 2013 viper are very clearly from forza motorsport 4, with the one I posted above seemingly from autovista. now that's all well and good, but here's where it gets really interesting: all signs are pointing to the viper GT program finally being revealed with the car tomorrow. the hyundai free car pack came out immediately after the veloster turbo's reveal and it brought a hyundai rallycross car with it. what if the viper GT car and the new viper both get added to forza tomorrow?
well if it does, I'm going to go out on a bit of a limb here: I think that the viper factory ALMS racing program will be sponsored by forza motorsport 4 and telemex and will be made up of the current ganassi Grand-Am program. it probably will not start racing full time until at least 2013, but when it does, I think it will feature scott pruett and memo rojas in the main car and possibly a second car for two more drivers. I think that they will try to get their NASCAR and IndyCar drivers to run as third drivers in the cars whenever possible. possibly most importantly, however, I think that the car will run Le Mans. I'll also keep my prior bold prediction that ganassi will be the anchor dodge team, if not the only dodge team, in NASCAR come 2013.

Is it not strange that T10 has revealed this car's imminent arrival but nothing regarding any one of the "new" Porsches? The strategy so far has been to reveal DLC cars one week in advance of their availability, save for the grand Porsche Pack announcement.
I purchased the initial SP as well. But, unless you are a completionist in need of instant gratification, purchasing all of the DLC cars now, rather than the few you're really interested in, would not be wise for any number of reasons...
Summer is too far away... makes me leary that my glass half empty opinion that this car will be only available in an UC edition of FM4 seem plausible. I hope I'm wrong.
I'm still on the fence about getting the season pass to get everything released till now, or waiting till the fall on an 'ultimate' edition of FM4. Seems kind of stupid to buy another game disc when I already have one, but the economics of the thing make more sense.. :/
Actually, I don't know that I'd buy the Viper yet. I don't run a lot of the R series stuff, and I did just get the Mercedes, already paid for, did I mention,I ran it around Hockenheim and I love it(?), so...
And I'm not a huge Porsche fan either, but that's a lot of cars that ARE fun to paint, so that's a strong maybe, still a bit peeved on the xbox locking up thing seemingly brought on by the "lobby crash fix"...
Is it wrong of me to want my 5 year old Xbox to die so I can get one with the 250Gb HDD? My original Xbox w/o HDMI and the 20Gb HDD will be in service 5 years in May.. :o I really hesitate to get DLC anymore becuse of the limited space on the HDD. And even to get the cars I really want, I wind up downloading te entire pack anyways..
I use the component out, so I do get HD. (It would REALLY suck on my TV if it wasn't in HD... The 320Gb would be nice, but the 250 would be just fine by me. :)

I hope that T10 is very liberal with the term "summer". This car needs to be in the game sooner rather than later. Waiting till the end of June or July is unacceptable. But on the flipside, it looks like there is a bit of stuff to look forward to even with the SP now completed. I keep hearing that a lot of guys here are not "Porsche Fans". That's okay..but they belong in the game. Not just because we had them before in FM3 but because Porsche has a long history in motorsport. It's going to be great to virtual race against them again. I loved the 914/6, 930T and especially the 911 GT3 RSR. Love, Hate or Indifference...it will be great to have them back. Plus 7 more we couldn't drive before. I just hope that these two are in the car pack..
